Holy crap, quote mine much?(not that the comment it was pulled from wasn't ridiculous)

He said that if laws are passed requiring gun registration, he would refuse just like Rosa Parks did not sit in the back of the bus. So he is willing to be a criminal and violate hypothetical federal gun laws as an act of civil disobedience.

^says the guy who pays income taxes

I don't think it's admirable that I pay income taxes. It's automatically taken out of my paycheck. If someone puts a gun to my head, I'll give them my wallet or whatever else they want.

So you would return slaves to their rightful owners?
4/19/2013 10:35:09 AM
^^ you do know that you control whether income tax is withheld from your paycheck, right?
4/19/2013 10:36:44 AM
Can I control whether someone with a gun comes to my home when I don't pay income taxes? I'm totally willing to pay off the individuals running the government if it means I can continue living. Life is more important to me than making a point. I'm not going to take moral responsibility for the atrocities committed by the U.S. government. They don't politely ask for tax money, they take it by force. That's the whole point of taxation. Where there is no choice, there is no moral decision. With that said, look at my original statement. There's nothing admirable about following unjust laws. If you have to follow them to avoid being killed or incarcerated, then that's that. There's not much of a decision to make. It's also not shameful to break unjust laws. It may be irrational, it may be pointless, and it may end with you being murdered by individuals with a badge and a gun, but it's not something to be ridiculed for.[Edited on April 19, 2013 at 10:47 AM. rosa parks couldn't stop the police from arresting her because she asserted her civil rights any more than you can stop them from arresting you for not paying taxespart of civil disobedience means accepting the consequences and using it to highlight your struggle.

so whats the problem here?if these things come to pass and theduke willingly goes to jail, well, why do you care?
4/19/2013 11:46:58 AM
i wouldn't
4/19/2013 11:48:05 AM
so is this a free thread now?which do you prefer?
4/19/2013 11:51:58 AM

1. This probably didn't warrant its own thread.2. If it did, it should have included context rather than being deliberately disingenuous, especially when your sleight of hand is to falsely portray me as a racist. If you want to debate a topic, then by all means, let's do just that.3. Shut the fuck up, Donny. You're out of your element. Never mind, I took care of that for you.
