Can we get a list of all the stupid shit they've tried to pull so far?

Crony Pope/Duke Energy employees appointed to run everythingAbout 10 to 20 different efforts to manipulate the voteBills banning boobs, making divorce harder, and to allow a state established religionSeizing municipal assets while claiming to be small government championsPutting climate change deniers and pro-fracking advocates in charge of regulating the environmentAmendment 1There's more. But that's a start.

Vulcan91 put this together:

Part of me was excited about have Republicans in office because it meant that some sensible gun rights legislation could be passed.... but holy fuck I didn't want all this other shit to come along with it. These guys truly are a cancer to this state with all of the partisan bills being proposed and passed. It's sad that our state of politics has come to this. These guys aren't solving problems. They aren't passing/proposing legislation to better the state. They're ramming as much uber-conservative shit down our throats as quickly as possible since they haven't had this control in decades in hopes that the morons of the state will see what "good" legislation they've passed and help keep them in control. I am truly worried about the future of this state now.
4/4/2013 1:57:03 PM
Don't forget fracking and offshore drilling.
4/4/2013 1:57:50 PM
^^so you're one of those "single-issue" voters?
4/4/2013 2:01:47 PM
4/4/2013 2:04:07 PM
So do you guys just sit around reading the BlueNC twitter feed all day long? Or do you just get email blasts from someone at the NCGA who sends out an alert every time any elected Republican files a bill/resolution with the Clerk?
4/4/2013 2:11:17 PM
All this stupid shit has been all over the news and papers. Kind of hard to stick your head in the sand and NOT see it, IMO.
4/4/2013 2:15:25 PM
This is true. WRAL does seem to be very keen on reporting on the NCGA lately.
4/4/2013 2:26:15 PM
just to clarify: are you simply playing devils advocate, GoldieO, or are you in support of what the NCGA has been proposing recently?because you sure are quick to defend them [Edited on April 4, 2013 at 2:41 PM. Reason : they are quickly making our state a national laughingstock ]
4/4/2013 2:40:51 PM
How have I defended anything? I've just tried to point out the fact that bills don't become law simply become a draft version is entered by the Clerk.[Edited on April 4, 2013 at 2:43 PM. Reason : Wooo! First egg from TSB w/that post.]

The mandating cursive bill is an odd one. I don't see any obvious direct connections with big money interests or ideology, other than the right's general preference for old timeyness. It's certainly not in the category of some of the horrendous bills that are being proposed, but it's odd for supposedly small government advocates to be trying to micromanage teachers when they won office on a jobs, jobs jobs, agenda.[Edited on April 4, 2013 at 4:03 PM. Reason : .]
4/4/2013 4:02:43 PM
^^^ Clearly you haven't been paying attention then. All these things are happening in other states (and they would be happening nationally if the Republicans weren't clinging onto an illegitimate majority in the House of Representatives) because ALEC is running the fucking show for the Republicans. It's basically a neoconservative/big business organization that uses their puppet Republicans to pass legislation that ALEC literally writes for them. None of these bumfuck state senators and reps know what the fuck is going on. They're just there for the free ride and to push the right button when the time comes.[Edited on April 4, 2013 at 4:08 PM. Reason : ]

where's the voter ID thread? I haven't kept up with the bill much, but I heard that there have been several changes to it to better allow those without IDs/poor to get identification.
4/5/2013 9:09:06 AM
they also changed it so the voter ID's will not have pictures(which makes it pretty obvious why they want it)heard that they are going to prevent the transit authority for charging for tolls unless the bill is over $5
4/5/2013 9:46:26 AM
I read the voter ID bill. Its surprisingly watered down, but still allows for fucking over those non-educated voters who dont pay attention to poilitics and simply show up and vote. -As far as college students, pubic university IDs will be valid, but private university IDs will not be.-Acceptable IDs will have a 10 year expired grace period. You read that right. They will accept it up to 10 years after expiration. If you are over age 70 expired IDs become permanently valid.-Disabled/handicap people are exempt from the ID requirement upon signing an affidavit.

They don't care because they know they've rigged the game so that they can't lose unless an unprecedented number of North Carolinians suddenly wake up to their shit. 2014 is going to be an uglier campaign than 2012.
4/10/2013 2:10:42 PM
they aren't going anywhere soon, they will gerrymander their districts all to hell for job security (the same way the democrats did)

4/11/2013 10:52:04 AM
some people will probably go on a crusade to try to prevent possums from becoming road-kill
4/11/2013 12:58:29 PM
Why do we need a named state marsupial?
4/11/2013 1:01:48 PM
more important than our "State's favorite son" IMO

4/11/2013 9:11:36 PM
Actually that's not appropriate here or anywhere. His affiliation is irrelevant.
4/11/2013 10:23:49 PM
How is my question irrelevant? As evinced by yet another thread dedicated to another proposed bill - http://www.brentroad.com/message_topic.aspx?topic=636252 - I'm simply curious as to his own personal biases. But please correct me if I've violated some type of TSB rule by requesting such information, given my inexperienced status as an actual commenter I could have easily missed the memo.I suppose my point is how are these bills selected to be thread-worthy here at TSB given the large number of actual bills introduced? Is this the herculean effort of one individual to read and report on every single bill introduced by every member of the NCGA? Or is there some additional incentive to do so?[Edited on April 12, 2013 at 5:09 AM. Reason : .....]
