http://www.pcmag.com/article2/0,2817,2416575,00.aspSigh. Off to find some subpar reader I suppose.Thankfully Google+ is still running strong!

What the fuck. And good point. Why leave the failure that is Google+ running and shut down Google Reader? Assholes.
3/13/2013 9:31:15 PM
because google+ is an identification engine for tracking you, not the social network it fails to be. google reader makes little money since google+ cookies/google analytics get goog almost the same info/ad vectors
3/13/2013 9:36:46 PM
shame, use Reader for RSS constantlyyay for the era of social? bleh

*shrug* i use google reader about 10% of what i used to say 5 years ago. i don't think anybody should be surprised by this. reader hasn't done anything new in years, chrome doesn't even handle rss feeds. google has been de-emphasizing rss as a preferred means for the web to distribute content for years.http://www.google.com/trends/explore#q=rss[Edited on March 13, 2013 at 9:48 PM. The lowering popularity of RSS is what everyone points to, and you know it's true, so this makes a lot of sense. There's been speculation they might roll something into Google Currents, which I personally use and love.

I am extremely pissed about this. I use Google Reader constantly. Lifehacker has a decent article for alternatives.http://lifehacker.com/5990456/google-reader-is-getting-shut-down-here-are-the-best-alternativesWhat do you guys use instead?
3/14/2013 9:38:33 AM
I use Feedlybut really I don't use RSS feeds on my computer much anymore, that is usually only on my phone
3/14/2013 10:02:03 AM
there are a lot of blogs that i like to read, that i wouldn't remember to check for if not for google reader over the last few years.that said, i'm going to go with feedly i think.
3/14/2013 10:24:40 AM
google also just killed adblock apps in their app store.
3/14/2013 10:30:39 AM
i guess i'll have to manually update adaway, then...because it changes so much
3/14/2013 10:47:42 AM
and they just finished making "release builds" auto-update: https://adblockplus.org/en/development-builds

Are there other options that link up to Reeder? The biggest pain in the ass if there is t is finding a new reader but the read/unread wouldn't sync across all my devices. Would think google could keep this thing up and running given all the random worthless crap they continually put out.
