Hey Guys, My gf and I have a passion for cooking and we have made some delicious creations if anyone is interested in purchasing some of our baked goods. I'll take orders here and we will make them from scratch and deliver to you (anywhere in Triangle area)Right now we are offering 2 different gourmet options plus a traditional chocolate chip recipeThe first is Caramel 'Dreams'. These are our version of the Samoa Girl Scout Cookies. They are larger than a normal GSC, about twice the size. Shortbread cookie topped with a chewy caramel-coconut glaze, dipped and drizzled with semi-sweet chocolate. The second is a nutella filled chocolate chip cookie. We use a delicious traditional chocolate chip recipe, and fill with real nutella brand hazelnut spread. If you are a nutella fan, this is definitely worth trying. We also offer a traditional chocolate chip cookie recipe as well if you are interested in that! The price is $12 per dozen (minimum order) + a $3 delivery charge. Order 5 dozen or more, delivery is free. If anyone is interested, please PM me and I will start taking orders for delivery next week. Thanks so much![Edited on February 15, 2013 at 11:24 AM. Well be doing another round of baking this weekend if anyone would like to place an order!
2/21/2013 8:10:12 AM
wait... you want 15 bucks for a dozen cookies?
2/21/2013 9:36:28 AM
They are larger cookies than normal samoas or chocolate chips, but I was talking to my gf Kara last night and she said she would now deliver the cookies in Raleigh-Durham-Chapel Hill-Carrboro area for free. Also the traditional chocolate chip recipe cookies are $11 per dozen, free delivery[Edited on February 21, 2013 at 10:30 AM. Also I was told to add that in addition to them being larger cookies than normal samoas, the ingredients are also finer quality. We are using organic butter, organic light and dark brown sugars, organic eggs, ghiradelli fine chocolate, high quality werthers caramels, and organic flour. These are top quality cookies, better than anything you would find in the grocery store cookie aisle. This is our last weekend of baking if anyone would like to place an order, and we will take a break for a few weeks and start up again. Thanks!
2/22/2013 10:57:07 AM
are they more soft or more crunchy?
2/22/2013 12:32:32 PM
These are definitely a softer, chewy cookie. We think they taste best that way
2/22/2013 12:44:25 PM
that's the way cookies are supposed to be. I'll ask my wife about it and see if she wants some.
2/22/2013 12:47:11 PM
^^^^Why does everyone seem to think that organic is necessarily higher quality?
2/23/2013 2:19:18 AM
^I can't speak for the sugar and eggs and other ingredients that we purchased specifically, but I am familiar with large scale organic farming of corn and soybeans and I can tell you it's definitely higher quality. Everything is meticulously documented and well regulated. You don't get that with traditional farming. A minor accident like an oil leak on an organic farm could cost you your entire contract. Not the case with normal production. As far as taste goes, that's a matter of personal opinion
2/23/2013 9:23:33 AM
is it too late to order? do you ship?
2/23/2013 6:56:16 PM
^^We're talking about food. Aside from possible contamination, the quality of food is ultimately about taste. Because organic farmers don't use synthetic fertilizers they predominantly use manure which puts the end product at a much higher risk for contamination, especially with E. Coli. Also the methods used to grow organic without the help of herbicides and chemicals are proving to be more harmful to the environment than conventional farming methods. Several government studies have proven that organically grown food boasts no health benefits over traditionally grown food and there have been numerous taste tests that show no obvious taste difference between the two. If you want quality food, buy in season, locally grown produce that hasn't been sitting on the shelf. The only thing you get from buying organic food is an inflated ego and a lighter wallet. Be smart about what you buy, don't make assumptions based on trendy buzz words! Your cookies look delicious and I'm sure they taste as good as they look, but there's absolutely no reason why they should be $15/dzn. Quit sourcing your ingredients from the uninformed hippies at Whole Foods and you can increase your target market as well as your profit margin.Sources: Google "organic food misconception" and pick your poison

^^so sorry we finished up our last order on Friday. We are both going to be out of town the next couple of weeks, but well be back in late march/April to take more orders and offer more choices. Thanks everyone!^Thanks ncsuhobbit. We appreciate your thoughts and opinions and google searches, but the price is what it is. We are baking them at home and using ingredients we both like and the end product is delicious. And we believe our price point is very fair for gourmet home made cookies. We've only sold about 10 dozen so far which is def no govt study, but everyone has responded to us how much they love them. The Nutella cookies in particular have impressed everyone, and they all agree are definitely worth a $1/cookie. In fact I'm not sure I know of many places in the triangle that will bake a cookie for you from scratch, and hand deliver it to you within 24 hours for less than $1.00. If you really wanna have a discussion about the quality and taste of our product, I strongly urge you to purchase some of what we make. If you don't think it's up to your standards of quality, ill be more than happy to refund all of your money. Thanks!

Just a quick price comparison in case anyone is curious, i checked out some online cookie retailers and here are some prices they have. Keep in mind these are for regular chocolate chip cookies.Carolina Cookies offers a dozen chocolate chunk cookies or $15.95 + $7.95 Standard UPS Shipping. They are located in Greensboro.http://www.carolinacookie.com/category/chocolate-chip-cookiesDavid's Cookies are one of the biggest online cookie sellers, they charge $24.95 + $5.95 standard shipping for a 1lb tin (approx 1 dozen)choc. chip cookies. I've ordered several varieties from this website before and their cookies are not good. Every single order came dry and crumbly, and many are broken upon delivery. I was not impressed at all.http://davidscookies.com/fresh-baked-cookies-1-lb-tin-assorted-flavors/00097-0085/I understand it's TWW a lot of people complain about the price but I just wanted to point out we are not gouging anyone here and our cookies are fresher, cheaper, and can be delivered faster than a lot of the other competition thanks!

^I'm a firm believer in capitalism, and I certainly won't knock anyone for selling a product for a price that someone is willing to pay. However, I also believe in economics, and for me it follows that if you can sell 10 dozen at $12/dzn then you might be able to sell 20 dozen at a lower price point. Especially since I believe that your cookies would taste just as amazing with inorganic ingredients than organic (newsflash: Nutella isn't organic!) meaning you could sell your cookies for less (thus targeting more people) while making more money. Your call, that's just how I see it. If this is just a hobby and it makes you feel good, go for it, charge whatever you can get for them. It's my opinion that there are lots of people out there who would spend $100/cookie if it meant they could brag to their friends that they wasted their money on an overpriced cookie. Keep in mind that they only buy from retailers that their friends have heard of, like carolinacookie or davidscookies. This isn't me "complaining" about the price. Consider this the voice of the other 99% of the cookie market that you're missing out on, who can afford your product but doesn't believe it's worth the asking price.

Is this trolling in the classifieds section?NCSU Hobbit what dharney is doing is pretty damn cool and fairly unique for this forum. If you don't like it, then don't buy it. Take all the ranting to the soap box or chit chat.
2/26/2013 4:03:36 PM
Agreed. If you're not interested in purchasing dharney's cookies, don't post in this thread.
2/26/2013 4:25:13 PM
If you can post nutrition facts, I may buy a dozen.
2/26/2013 4:59:15 PM
these look pretty delicious.Let us know when you are ready to take more orders.
2/26/2013 7:05:36 PM
Thanks everyone. Hope to start taking orders again late march/early april. Looking forward to it

you want nutrition facts... for COOKIES?
2/27/2013 2:34:39 PM
what type of packaging do they come in?
2/27/2013 2:35:54 PM
2/27/2013 4:47:28 PM
dharneyAs an impartial observer, I can tell you that $12-$15 a dozen for made-from-scratch cookies including delivery is very reasonable. I think it's a perfect price point. I will probably order some from you at some point. Can you pm me when you are taking orders again?
2/28/2013 10:11:42 PM
Could not agree more. We order the Dark Chocolate Chip cookies from Levain Bakery out of New York a couple times a year and they are $71.00/dozen.
3/1/2013 10:06:12 AM
Do you have any pictures of the traditional chocolate chip cookies?
3/1/2013 10:41:05 AM
Hi Everyone,We have returned from vacation and plan on taking orders this weekend to be delivered next week. We are still offering the same cookies, but there have been some price changesThe Samoa Cookies are now $15/dozen. This was to ensure we can still obtain top quality ingredients to make our cookies taste the best. The Nutella Cookies will remain at $12/dozen,And regular chocolate chip cookies are $11/dozen. On orders of 2 dozen or greater, delivery is free to Raleigh-Durham-Chapel Hill Area. On a single dozen order, delivery is $3. If you live outside the area and wish to have cookies shipped to you, we can arrange this as well for a shipping fee. I have used USPS flat rate boxes in the past. The medium size box will hold 2-3 dozen cookies (possibly more idk) and is around $12 shipping cost.My apologies to synapse, I don't have a picture of the regular chocolate chip cookies on me at the moment, but the recipe for the regular chocolate chip cookies and the nutella filled ones are exactly the same except for the addition of nutella, so the look is very similar to the picture I posted in the OP.Also I do not currently have nutrition information on the cookies, but I could try to figure up one. I'll see what I can do. ThanksWe will be baking on Sunday and delivering Next week, Monday and Tuesday. Just PM me by Sunday afternoon if you would like to place an order for delivery next week. Thanks again so much for everyone's support, These are great cookies and I am sure you will all enjoy them!

3/22/2013 7:47:54 PM
good lord, ncsu hobbitshut the fuck up
3/23/2013 1:57:31 PM
ok, so for the packaging, it's very simple. We plate them with a paper plate, cover in wax paper and aluminum foil, and then seal them in gallon ziplock bags to retain freshness. As for nutrition, I used a simple my fitness pal calculator and added up the ingredients1 nutella filled cookie is approximately 190 Calories, 10g fat, 23g carbs, and 2g protein1 Samoa Cookie is approximately 180 Calories, 12g fat, 18g carbs, and 2g proteinI hope this helps everyone. We begin baking tomorrow, so please PM me if you would like to place an order. Thanks!

this is a viable business model and very cool idea. I'm not a huge cookie fan, but when I did my graduate work in boulder, there was a similar business called Boulder Bakedhttp://boulderbaked.com/I think they made a killing in a stoner area (they deliver until like 3 am)

since we are talking about cookies, the best cookies i've ever had were from Selmas, specifically the Chocolate Crunch. I got them everytime I flew through JFK airport. One birthday my ex bought me a dozen of them. I should have married that girlhttp://www.selmas.com/wholesale-cookies.htmlIf you could make these cookies, i'd be your no. 1 customer. These things are huge, you can barely finish one in a sitting.
4/11/2013 1:49:29 PM
^cool, thanks for the suggestion. Jus looking at the prices I saw they charge $25/dz. We charge much less for our cookies, but for that price we will def make you a chocolate crunch cookie lol Those are big cookies though, about 4oz per cookie. I think ours a little under half that weight.
