Anyone have experience with dynomax mufflers?
Thinking about putting a couple mufflers on the maxima for a little more sound.
Dynomax sells the VT version with a spring loaded flapper valve that supposedly stops any drone.
I'm not looking for flowmaster or glass-pack loud.

I'm not getting the relevance of your post...
The maxima is a 3.5L V6, and I'm not looking for a shitty noise maker.

i'd go sound-system route in a max before mufflers. plus, that cvt would sound weird

The 8w7 or 10w6, or similar, will go in as well.

more exhaust noise in a maxima? why?

quiet exhausts are where it's at, anyway, to the extent that you can make the power you want. just putting a couple of loud mufflers on a maxima is a terrible idea, in my opinion.

and yes, it's still rice...it's just not as heinously offensive to all senses as a civic with a batmobile bodykit, erector set wing, and kazoo muffler. don't do it, dude.

I'd be wary of the VT series... if that spring ever pops off, or loses tension it's going to sound lika crap.

In the 944 hybrid community, people chose dynomax cans for quiet crusing but a nice growl during WOT.

I myself prefer to trick out my rides with some flowmasters and they are more than just decorations.

flowmaster is a decent muffler, assuming you have enough to offset their higher pressure drop

Just go with a Flowblaster 50 series. 40 series is going to be too loud for you and have too much dP as ^^ said

That Stillen video sounded nice.

Is the 2009 VQ basically the same as the previous gen (I haven't paid much attention since the 6th gen came out)?

Check out what one of our locals makes for the VQ's http://www.nwpengineering.com/Phenolic_Spacers.html

Every person on the maxima forum complains of massive drone with the stillen exhaust.

Yes, it is basically the same. 290hp 3.5l V6 mated to a CVT.
One person dropped the 7th gen motor into a 6th gen with 6 speed so they could dyno it.
Came back at 280 whp, and 275 wtq IIRC. A new Y-pipe is shown to add 15hp, and full exhaust adds 5 more.

Y pipe has been the way to wake the maxima up since the VE.

I'd go with that and try to keep the rest quiet, but you're the one that gets to drive it everyday.

I realize it's a completely different scenario with the I6, but on my 328 I used a large magnaflow duel in/duel out muffler and got an exhaust shop to mate it to a stock m3 rear section. Sounded amazing.

going from 'heard' sounds, nissan v6's 'howl', where inlines tend to 'moan'.

I know that has no real merit, but, when you hear it, you'll shit bricks.
