This looks pretty damn good. Very surprised nobody else made a thread for it yet.

Who is tuning in tonight?

I have it set for dvr. The reviews have been good and it has been said it is surprisingly violent for a non-cable tv show.

i'm going to give it a fair shot. but if it turns into a Criminal Minds copycat then it won't last long.

I feel like I have to post this dialogue from the pilot because it's really fucking terrible:
Quote :
"Carroll's using Poe's work as a religion. He's speaking to people through Gothic Romanticism. There's a pathology to today's Internet techno-bred minds. He's created a vacancy in our humanity."

I thought it was good, felt like they did a little too much, almost felt like the pace you would find in a two hour long movie

I liked it. I feel like we will gradually meet each of his followers over each new episode. Might even be some insiders.

I'll go ahead and speculate that Bacon will have a heart attack in the season finale, and right before he goes under for surgery one of the "followers" walks in dressed as the doctor

I'm looking for a new show and Kevin Bacon is awesome so I watched...it was interesting enough, but there was a lot of stupid in it, as armorfrsleep and Slave Famous pointed out...not sure this is gonna do it for me really

I would have liked there to be a lot more focus on Bacon's character and his current issues. Other than a shot of his trashcan and him walking around with liquor in a water bottle, you wouldn't have any idea he's an alcoholic. His character doesn't exactly scream anti-hero to me the way they want it to

I think it would be better if the roles were reversed. Bacon would make a great serial killer, and the Irishman is a natural to play the drunken cop.

^ great idea...I'd watch that show

could be an interesting twist...Bacon was fascinated with the professor at first, maybe he becomes a follower at the end or something and someone else emerges as the hero...John McClain would be my suggestion

how would they ever be able to write the The Closer crossover episode with real life wife Kyra Sedgwick!?

but no, i understand the complaint about Bacon's character not quite being the anti-hero we should be seeing. But perhaps his spiral begins now, after Sarah has been killed and Carrol's "circle" has been completed.

I wanted to give this show a fair chance, but the writing is straight-up abysmal.

armorfrsleep's example was a good one. I'll give it another shot, but it's a little obnoxious.

So I'm guessing that The Following didn't cough up any money for Ford or Chevy? Every vehicle I've seen so far on the show has it's emblems removed. Kind of weird.

basically the premise of the show is you can't trust anyone! cliffhangers! verbose deconstructions of Poe's poetry!

there's too much other tv on right now to waste any more of my time with this one.

i think it might have had something to do with him saying he liked to read before bed. so i'm guessing that he had requested a book and she brought it so she could lay eyes on him and size him up or whatever. i think it'd be too obvious to make her part of the cult after that scene.

kinda disappointed with the writing of the show so far tbh. seems bogged down by its need to be clever. that being said, i think the acting has been pretty good from bacon and purefoy.

^^yeah, cult girl is kind of doing it for me too in this weird crazy eyed bitch sort of way.

I even found myself falling into Joe's trap like Ryan last night! He's not a killer, he's too charming! But i'm enjoying this more than I thought i would. The twist at the end of last night's was a good one. I should have probably picked up on the clues, but i was actually surprised.

The creepy exchange at the end of episode two between Joe and the new head agent left me wondering about her though.

I think shes just trying to be the "nice" agent. Joe saying "thanks for the book" in front of the other agents closed that door for me

I'm really enjoying this show, I didn't expect it to be as dark as it is

I get the feeling that the young FBI kid that tags along with Hardy all the time is in the cult. He just seems way too into Hardy's life. Also I think he killed the black FBI guy when Hardy was ouside.

Also the kids name is Mike Weston. Why do they keep using that name (Burn Notice)?

the woman inside the house killed the black FBI agent. you saw her with the knife stabbing him through the neck. as for the young FBI agent, i do have my suspicions of him too; he fits the mold of the group all too well.

i think ^^ is saying that the FBI agent simply let him bleed out instead of applying pressure on the wound to save him.

Yeah, I meant to imply he let him bleed or asphyxiated him. When I watch shows like this I always know there is a BIG twist coming in the finale so I try to pick up on what it might be. Like the wife being in on it seemed obvious and the stabbing seemed to be a set up from the beginning. I think this show is pretty good so far, and just creepy enough. Teaching the kid to kill is really F'ed up.

This show has some great premise. Usually decent twists. Like the main plot points are hitting the mark. But then everything in between is just stupid, lazy writing.

Why the fuck didn't the FBI chick call the black FBI guy.
Every time they're staked out protecting someone in a house i've heard "The house is secure" but nope! Two minutes later someone in the house is killing people.

The theme song to an old TV show "Greatest American Hero" ...foreshadowing?

Quote :
"as for the young FBI agent, i do have my suspicions of him too;"

That actually hadn't crossed my mind until it was brought up ITT. But it makes sense to me now. Especially if you believe the FBI cult specialist is in on it too. When she 'found out' from Jordy that the Poe masked guy's wife was in on it, she called the young white FBI agent... not the black dude who was actually in the house with her. Why the fuck didn't she call the black dude first??? She knew he was guarding her and it is too hard to believe she didn't have his cell number...

My predicted twist is that the kidnapped boy is actually Kevin Bacon's son. Not Joe Carroll's son. I noticed that Carroll's wife never refers to the boy as 'his' son or 'our' son. During the interrogation, it was always "GIVE ME BACK MY SON!" and "WHERE IS MY SON?"

And they will end up taping the little boy murdering the asian chick that other dude brought home after they condition him into a serial killer. Next season will flash 10 years into the future and Kevin Bacon will be trying to catch his own serial killer son.

Okay... that part is a little far fetched... but I stand by my first prediction.

that's not possible. In the flashbacks when Ryan meets with Joe at his home Joe specifically says that his wife is "out with the little one".

^ The kid wouldn't know.

^^ But it never alluded to when the affair between Hardy and the wife started. Perhaps finding out about the affair was what pushed Carroll to start the murder spree knowing that he would be able to get close to and fuck with Ryan Hardy. We just assume it started during the first investigation.
