I'm starting to take a lot more photographs as I travel more, and I've found that I really enjoy it. I am by no means a professional, but I enjoy it.I'm looking for a way to better organize my pictures and edit and batch edit them. Is Photoshop Lightroom what I should be looking at? I'm fine with paying $150, but I wasn't sure if there was other options. (I'd like to be able to have some kind of map view like I can do with my online albums. I'd also like something that maybe plays nice with flickr and/or skydrive)

Adobe Photoshop Lightroom or Apple Aperture will work for what you are looking to do. Both support geotagging and have a map view (Lightroom added only in version 4), both support batch editing. If you have a Mac, Lightroom is much less expensive. Just the upgrade cost to go from LR3 to LR4 cost more money than a Lightroom license. If you plan to do extensive image editing or graphics design, more cost-effective and flexible way to go is Photoshop Elements 11, which also supports geotagging and batch editing, and combines the organizational tools of Lightroom (rating, tagging, direct sharing to social media, book/card printing) with advanced editing capabilities of the Photoshop (Even some of the more powerful selection tools such as Quick Selction tool with Refine Edge) and adds some features that neither Lightroom nor Photoshop has (automatic face and object recognition, or photo editing wizards)
