in neutral.

Once in neutral, the tach drops to about 4-500, the engine shutters, the tach bounces up to 800, then back down to 4-500 and the cycle continues until the trans is engaged or the truck comes to a stop, then every thing is normal. Takes about 2 seconds for this cycle to complete.

Bad connection possibly on tps or iac. Try wiggling those connections and see if revs drop.

I tried looking up these parts online, but the only thing I could find involved dissassembly, etc., which I don't care to do.

Also, I had my oil changed today and the mechanic said there was very little oil that drained... the temperature has been normal lately and I didn't receive a CEL or anything in the DIC about pressure. No oil spots where I park... guess it's burning oil now...

Anyone left on here do car work?

What fixed it (the shuddering issue)? I assume you checked the battery voltage, terminal connections, and any wiring you might have messed with to fix the first issue already to rule out the easy stuff?

took it to a shop a few weeks ago. had 2 stored codes: misfire and idle air inlet error. plugs and boots were replaced; throttle body was taken apart and cleaned; fuel system cleaner was thrown in the gas tank. solved the issues in the OP. been driving fine since, including yesterday.

this morning, it would attempt to crank, but fail to turn over (well, it turned over twice and immediately died. same result when popping the clutch. went out 30 minutes later and tried again and it cranked right up.

Check battery connections at both ends of each cable.

It starts fine when it's warm out; has failed only when cold out...

connections seem fine. battery and starter tested fine today (warm though).
