If so does it make you sick? Mild symptoms for < 24 hours or worse?
12/18/2012 12:53:54 PM
no I don't take shots designed to give me mild doses of the flu. Never had a flu shot, never had the flu.
12/18/2012 12:55:51 PM
nope
12/18/2012 12:56:55 PM
^^^ Reaction depends on the person just like any shot. Just about anything I've read says it's nearly impossible for it to actually give you the flu though. That being said, I didn't get one from 2003 - 2011 and never got the flu during that time. I did however get a flu shot this year at work.
12/18/2012 1:00:32 PM
Got one last year for the first time ever....was sick as a dog for a week after. Never again
12/18/2012 1:01:23 PM
nope. and I haven't gotten the flu since high school.
12/18/2012 1:02:59 PM
yep...it was free and i'm not scared of it causing down syndrome or something equally preposterous*i MIGHT have felt slightly flushed that afternoon and/or the next morning, but that may have been unrelated and it didn't last any longer than that*i realize no one actually thinks the flu shot in particular causes down syndrome
12/18/2012 1:14:40 PM
12/18/2012 1:20:57 PM
yes, every year. never had a reaction to it.
12/18/2012 1:24:58 PM
yeah, they give them free at work so i usually get one if i'm here that day.
12/18/2012 1:28:32 PM
12/18/2012 1:28:40 PM
yeah, I get one every year and it always gives me mild symptoms. I could die from the flu. I guess everyone could but it makes my blood glucose levels out of whack and makes me sicker, especially if am puking. I was hospitalized when I was 15 from the flu. Yo holmes....just kidding, it's true.
12/18/2012 1:30:26 PM
got the flu in 2006, never having had a shot before.Got a shot every year since; the only side effect is a sore arm (feels like a charlie-horse)
12/18/2012 1:31:51 PM
School required me to get a flu shot. Got a bruise from it and that was about it.
12/18/2012 1:43:37 PM
Never got the flu shot. Then I had the flu in 2009 and it was f*cking horrible. After that I started getting the flu shot (free at work) the last few years and never had any kind of bad reaction.
12/18/2012 1:50:55 PM
i've gotten a shot every year for the past 6 yearslike every other shot, feels like a solid frog punch the next day
12/18/2012 1:51:12 PM
Yesthis year i had a sore arm for a day and i was tired that night, definitely worth it
12/18/2012 1:55:20 PM
i don't recall ever getting a sore arm from the shot...certainly didn't this year (got it in late october)
12/18/2012 2:09:21 PM
I don't think I've ever gotten one...or at least not in a long time.
12/18/2012 2:40:17 PM
Man too bad geniusxboy isnt here to tell us about how the flu shot is the Illuminati's preferred method of gaining mind control. I kid, i kid.
12/18/2012 3:07:14 PM
12/18/2012 3:10:21 PM
Yes. Depends, not really. Didn't feel all that great for a day or so but that was it.
12/18/2012 3:25:57 PM
I have administered over 100 flu shots this season and I can tell you first hand it DOES NOT MAKE YOU SICK. It is an inactivated strain of the influenza virus and the only negative feeling might be mild muscle soreness at the site of injection for 24-48 hours after. The needle used is very very small in diameter and most people say they can barely feel it.
12/18/2012 3:42:28 PM
Yeah, I honestly didn't feel the needle go in at all this time around.TWSS seriously though, I didn't. Complimented the nurse for it too!
12/18/2012 4:16:11 PM
WELL IT MADE ME SICK
12/18/2012 4:22:42 PM
Yes, No, my arm was just bruised and sore for about two days. Worth it though.
12/18/2012 4:24:26 PM
I got one last year and it gave me a nasty bruise and I was sick for about a day and a half, but it may have been a reaction to something in the vaccine because I was having weird reactions to preservatives and stuff at the time. Didn't feel the shot at all. I will get the shot again this year.
12/18/2012 7:20:02 PM
Nope, not sure if I've ever had the flu shot...sure I've gotten the flu but, knock on wood, it's been several years
12/18/2012 7:23:54 PM
get one every yearaside from my arm hurting, no real symptoms to speak ofgetting the flu sucks, so make sure you get the shot[Edited on December 18, 2012 at 7:37 PM. Reason : .]
12/18/2012 7:35:25 PM

12/18/2012 7:40:40 PM
Fuck a flu shot.
12/18/2012 7:42:38 PM

12/18/2012 7:44:36 PM

12/18/2012 7:45:59 PM
Oh I had the flu really really bad in like 2008.....never got the shot before that or after until last year.that shit sucked
12/18/2012 7:47:01 PM
12/18/2012 7:49:16 PM
I got the flu mist for the past 4 years, didn't get it this year.
12/18/2012 7:53:50 PM
You are goona wish you had gotten the shot after you use a week of PTO from being sick. Its worth it, unless you have an extreme reaction to it.
12/18/2012 8:09:40 PM
I have over 400 hrs of sick time, but I see your point. I don't know, maybe i'm just lucky or special. Everyone I know that gets the flu shot gets sick anyways. My wife and I don't get flu shots and neither of us have gotten the flu.
12/18/2012 8:11:49 PM
fuck that noise, didn't you see I AM LEGEND?
12/18/2012 8:13:30 PM
School required us to get it. No ill effects.
12/18/2012 8:53:34 PM
12/18/2012 8:56:04 PM
Never had one, and never had the flu (that I can remember). My gf got one a few weeks ago and was sick as shit for a week.
12/18/2012 9:16:39 PM
Who's getting their flu shot this year?
10/10/2014 9:31:21 AM
<-------
10/10/2014 9:43:52 AM
I've never gotten a flu shot, and rarely get the flu, although I have had it a few times over the years.... did i recently read that it's supposedly a deterrent against heart disease?[Edited on October 10, 2014 at 9:48 AM. Reason : there are really people who have never gotten the flu? i find that hard to believe]
10/10/2014 9:48:02 AM
I get it free at work every year. Next week, I will get a flu shot.I think that once, I could feel my lymph nodes a little stiff. Other than that, I've never seen any side effects.
10/10/2014 9:48:44 AM
The baby got his and his required "first flu shot booster" and husband and I both got ours. For those of you claiming you never get the flu, then don't get it for you. Get it for all those around you. Elderly and young children who are more susceptible and immunocompromised people who can't get the vaccine. Some people get such mild cases they don't know they are actually getting the flu but they are still able to pass it to others. NC has already had one flu related death this year. http://myfox8.com/2014/10/09/elementary-school-student-is-ncs-first-flu-death-of-the-season/[Edited on October 10, 2014 at 9:57 AM. Reason : vaccines aren't just about you. They are about protecting the herd. ]
10/10/2014 9:53:21 AM
^^^dthe non-chalance in how you describe having the flu makes me suspect you've never had the flu.---I also used to mistake a really really bad cold for having "the flu" because it sounded like that's what it was. Last year, for the second time in my life, I got it. I can power through a cold, even a really bad one. Powering through the flu is not an option. you go from shivering cold to unbearably hot, and back again. The weakness you feel is as if someone literally sucked the life out of you. The effort it takes to get up and go to the bathroom is so daunting you consider that just pissing yourself is a better option. I'd always been inconsistent about getting the flu shot, mostly out of laziness. I got it last year, and took time off for illness for the first time in my career. Getting Tamiflu within 24 hours of symptoms got me back at work after only three days off. So yeah, this year, i got my flu shot as soon as I could.Don't be lazy. get that flu shot. especially if your employer gives that shit out free. and if you're anti-vax, don't be a fucking moron.[Edited on October 10, 2014 at 9:59 AM. Reason : .][Edited on October 10, 2014 at 10:06 AM. Reason : just to be clear-- only the first line was a response to Bullet.]
10/10/2014 9:58:58 AM
Oh, I'm certain I've had the flu on several occasions, no doubt. I can power through most sicknesses, will go for a year or more without taking sick days from work. But over the years, there have been those few times where I feel like I'm dying, sweating, shivering, headaches and dizziness, entire body aching, laying on the bathroom floor so I don't have to crawl back to bed...
