I think it's about time. Those places are a blight on society. It will be interesting to see how soon the state starts shutting these places down due to the sheer number of locations.

Is this ^ a serious post or a joke post? I can't tell.
12/14/2012 5:27:15 PM
Why would it be a joke post? Hopefully they will go they way of Pay Day Loans in NC.
12/14/2012 5:41:35 PM
Yeah these things are a big problem, I'm glad they were banned.
12/14/2012 6:00:39 PM

12/14/2012 6:42:36 PM

12/14/2012 7:34:59 PM

12/14/2012 7:56:48 PM
Is this the same as the Internet sweepstakes all over eastern nc?
12/15/2012 8:47:29 AM
what are video sweepstakes? all i'm getting on google are articles talking about laws but not really going into what they are.
12/15/2012 11:11:17 AM
you buy "internet access time" at the "internet cafe". but it's really just a slot machine on a computer. you gamble with your "internet time" and lose it or win more internet time. you cash out whenever you want.

lol, if true, bad news for this place:http://www.royalpalacetheatre.com/Someone just spent mega bucks re-doing that place and added hundreds of nice looking machines.
12/15/2012 3:30:13 PM
didn't the state pay for that?
12/15/2012 6:28:21 PM
^that's kinda what it looks like
12/15/2012 7:42:18 PM
State prob realized poor/stupid people were dumping all their welfare dollars into these sweepstakes places rather than the scratch-off tickets at the quick-e-mart. Must ban!

Sure it's low on the agenda, would love for the state lotto to be voted out now. So fucking shady how it was passed before, and the reason I would never vote for a Democrat on the state level again.
12/22/2012 11:37:11 PM
Do they have live cards out at Cherokee yet?
12/23/2012 5:12:45 AM
Yes
12/23/2012 11:17:42 AM
I never understood how computing gambling is "less taboo" than live card games. With computers one could program the unit to give worse odds than what inherently would occur in a live game.

my uncle is a boss hog type motherfucker in Asheboro. he's been running those machines for like 50 years in backrooms of every little redneck shack within the entire state. making shit illegal without solid enforcement strategy just shifts the profit from the middle class to the corrupt.

i live in asheboro and these things are EVERYwhere seems like every business that goes under winds up turning into a sweepstakes place. I guess it's a good thing because they're taking up most of teh abandoned buildings in the region but it definitely is a parasite on the poor, but that's no different than the lottery and honestly it's probably less shady than the lotto.
