anyone thats in meteorology or a weather nerd looked at the computer models for the 27th-28th, some are showing possible snow around 7 in.
12/21/2012 3:21:54 PM
It snowed today in Troutman/ Statesville area.I drove through it and was quite confused as to why white stuff was falling from the sky when the thermometer was 44 degrees. Yes, I do understand how/why, but it didn't stop the confusion when I saw it.
12/21/2012 3:35:40 PM
There were flurries in the northern reaches of the triangle area this morning, too
12/21/2012 3:39:37 PM
There was a wintry mix off Creedmoor and Norwell this morning around 10:30

Thunder storms yesterday...what's the old wives' tale about 10 days after getting snow? [Edited on December 27, 2012 at 8:38 AM. Reason : derp]

NC WINTER WEATHER FUCKING SUCKS!! CAN WE AT LEAST GET 6" OF SNOW AT ONE TIME??
12/27/2012 8:15:35 PM
I hear that man. I miss the "good ole days" of 2000-2004 when we got dumped on with regularity. These mild winters fucking blow
12/28/2012 8:38:21 AM
Chance for some winter weather tomorrow night although any accumulation is unlikely.
1/16/2013 10:12:19 AM
so has Raleigh had any snow this year?
1/16/2013 1:51:14 PM
Negative other than a few flurries that a few people said they saw I think
1/16/2013 2:05:43 PM
heavy snow tomorrow = some flurries (in Maryland) Lets see what happens
1/16/2013 3:00:56 PM
My 4.5 hour interstate drive from western NC back to Cary nearly resulted in my death twice. Rained the whole time, literally got run off the road by a semi, and then nearly got run off by the road by a woman in an SUV. It's raining fuckers, put on your lights and pay attention.Seriously though, fucking rain for 5 days in a row is bullshit. At least have the decency to snow once while I'm in the mountains.

4 inches forecast for Durham tonight, everyone's panicking already. Duke and NCCU have issued winter weather advisories and people keep cancelling events for today and tomorrow. I was at the grocery store last night and the usual suspects were down (bread, milk, etc.) It's just snow, peoples. It's warm and it's going to not stick anyway because the ground's too wet and warm.
1/17/2013 11:31:59 AM
^ same here in Greensboro, but I am more concerned about the ice. I have over 2 inches in my rain gauge over the past 24 hours, and they are calling for lows in the 20s tonight and tomorrow night.

im just glad my company finally switched to text-based site closure info instead of having to call the hotline to find out.that way i can get a text and just keep sleeping or get my ass up and get to work if i didnt get a text

A lot of people will write off because it is raining right now and will be through tonight. The problem is when the changeover occurs it will be pretty quick and shortly after people will find themselves in pretty impressive snow rates from triangle westward. The snow will come in a quick shot over just a few hours with the deformation band in association with the upper level low. In the heaviest bands thundersnow is possible. As people said the ground is warm, it is wet and the air isn't that cold. With that in mind some will get a lesson tonight in what dynamical cooling can do and how heavy snow rates can overcome warm soil and wet ground.[Edited on January 17, 2013 at 2:07 PM. Reason : .]

1/17/2013 2:51:06 PM
Looks like we will definitely see snow falling tonight just a matter of for how long. I think we will have some on the grass and stuff but I believe the roads will be fine other than maybe a few slick spots so dont count on having a 3/4 day weekend unless you work for the school systems.
1/17/2013 3:08:34 PM
plenty of people go to school for meteorology and still get it wrong no one is saying shes full of shit or anything

Mushy snow here in Durham, the annoying kind that immediately turns to ice in the tread of your shoes. Hadto stop and clear it out before getting in my truck around 10. Class @ NCCU is delayed tomorrow. Sweet!
