Anyone own an alienware laptop? Online the reviews seem good, but i want to see what the concensus is out there. I just got one as a gift so I don't know much about it.

Dell makes them now. The selection of hardware should be above average. It's a laptop. What do you really need to know?

I feel as though there is a tiny market for gaming laptops. For a similar price you can build a much more powerful desktop and get a decent laptop. I wouldn't really consider Alienware unless you really want one machine and plan on gaming on the go.

Alienware logo says "nerd" as loud as apple logo says "hipster"

I would say Alienware says nerd WAY more than Apple says hipster. Apple isn't really hipster as a lot of people have Apple products.

So a bit overpriced gaming computer. I'm taking it to the stan for games, Skype and hardcore gay porn. All my old pc games should run, tie fighter, sim city 2000, ghost recon... It was free so I'll take it![Edited on November 16, 2012 at 5:58 PM. Reason : Just wanted to make sure it woulnt fall apart on me.]

Depending on the model, I'd compare it to an ASUS

Make sure you keep it cool if it has a good graphics card. Mobile graphics cards tend to overheat.

I have a pretty loaded m17x that I just bought, and I love it. I probably wouldn't have picked alienware because of the price premium, but work reimbursed 50%, so it was worth it.
