Who has taken it?How does it compare to the GRE?I am specifically looking at the Library Media Specialist (0311) classification

My wife took that test about six years ago. It's entirely different from the GRE. In addition to questions specific to the library science degree, she said there were a lot of "who wrote this book" sort of literary trivia questions.

I don't have a library science degree but I do have a media studies degree and a literature degreeI think if I studied the right books I'd be able to conquer this test

I always thought of it as that test you need to take to become a teacher.

Praxis II has a lot of sub-designationsits a series of tests for various licensures

No clue about the Praxis since I work in a public library, but the library science portion ought to be simple enough. It's pretty common sense stuff and I rage against the MLS machine all the time.

My wife took it for primary education certification. She actually took 2 of them, can't remember the exact names. To study, she did a lot of the sample tests found on the praxis website and also bought a praxis study guide online. I remember the day she took it because we had to drive down to Fayetteville State. I dropped her off and hung around Fayetteville at the mall until she was done. After the test, she felt like she had done decent, but said it was a lot more intense than she thought (especially with the time limits). However, when she got her results (which took 1-2 months), she passed with flying colors... Knocked it out of the park.
