I am looking for a dependable RDP provider. I do not need encoding, torrents or anything special. I basically need a Windows virtual machine where I can log in from anywhere connected to the Internet and access a standard environment. I am not able to host the virtual machine, so hosting is required. Any recommendations? -Desh

Don't know if its really what you are looking for, but after they blocked RDC from outside connections at work, I started using Logmein instead. I was already using that for controlling my personal computers at home, but it is a pretty decent web based solution. And you can get by quite easily on the free version. You lose remote printing and some other things, but it serves my purposes.

you can't VPN into your network and run RDC?

might not have a static ip, or a desktop, or a windows box, or be willing to expose something all the time with personal data on it, etc

static IP for something like this is a thing of the past with a free Dynamic dns service like no-ip.com. Seriously... who now doesn't have an extra spare computer for something simple like this? I got 10 boxes in my room that's being useless. Shit, easy enough to use VM on one of them.

bigger reason is the upload pipe. most home cable/dsl connections are only 2-5mbps upstream, with pretty unreliable latency.if this is for business purposes, I can think of a dozen useful reasons for this off the top of my head. for personal use, yeah it doesnt make a whole lot of sense.

I wished I was able to get FIOS. 150 down, 65 up for 100 bucks a month is damn sexy.
