wait...so is it legalized or is it just on the ballot?
11/6/2012 12:57:55 PM
do you think this would be a viable alternative for the tobacco industry?]
11/6/2012 12:58:14 PM
not until big tobacco gets out of the federal government's ear hole
11/6/2012 1:01:53 PM
On the ballot in Colorado and Oregon as well. Polls in CO say that it will likely pass.
11/6/2012 1:02:17 PM
Can't wait for this shitSucks sneaking around like I'm in middle school or some shit
11/6/2012 3:41:03 PM
Hell I have never smoked pot and dont ever plan to and even I say lets just get this shit done nationwide. Tax the hell out of it and cut half the DEA... thats a good way to start balancing the budget. Let the police focus on the shit that when people are on it kill someone and/or eat their faces.
11/6/2012 3:44:27 PM
Sure would be nice if the federal government would get the fuck out of the state's business with stuff like this. Unfortunately Obama has been more overzealous of his enforcement of federal drug laws than Bush, despite promising not to.But yeah, pot should be legal, and in the states that it is the federal government should fuck off and keep the DEA out.

If a few states do it, it's only a matter of time before the others fall. Distribution will be impossible to control within the continental U.S.

That's absurd. There's no reason to believe the price would be that high. The black market drives up prices.[Edited on November 6, 2012 at 4:12 PM. Reason : ]

weed is 'legal' in amsterdam, but its not much cheaper than it is here in the states, where its illegal
11/6/2012 4:27:34 PM
I'm not sure that's a good comparison since everything in Europe is way more expensive than here.

11/6/2012 4:30:41 PM
just to clarify- weed isn't "legal" in any modern country in the world. it is greatly decriminalized in some places, but you can still get in trouble if you piss the wrong people off

So can employees drug test for weed in states where it is legal? I assume yes.
11/6/2012 6:00:44 PM
^Yes.Part of 502 is that police can now drug test for DUID for weed. .08 nanograms is the legal limit (which no one has any clue how much that is).It was pretty much a given to pass here in Washington for 3 reasons:1) The DUID section comforts all the super-conservatives that people wont just be driving around stoned all day (which they already do).2) Age limit will be 21 to purchase, like alcohol3) There will be a 25% sin tax on marijuana. According to the bill itself, retail price will be ~$12 per gram. Cigarettes are 1 gram. So a "pack of weed cigarettes" would cost at retail nearly $240. This will generate ~$300,000,000 per year in tax revenues for the state, and will reduce police enforcement costs by 20-30 million per year. However, I can almost guarantee weed wont be sold in cigarette packs at all. Much more likely to be sold similar to eCigs (as a concentrate) or in bagged form for Marijuana itself. I think the BIGGEST product seller will be foodstuffs - cookies, brownies, and candy. There is already a huge industry in WA and OR for the paraphernalia, so buying bowls, pipes, bongs, vaporizers, et al is already super easy and cheap.
11/6/2012 11:29:47 PM
wait... in one move, they legalize, and in the other, they try to set the price? what the fuck, folks?
11/6/2012 11:40:46 PM
Passed in Colorado.
