go view your activity log and look at "searches"http://news.cnet.com/8301-1023_3-57518097-93/your-searches-on-facebook-to-show-up-in-activity-log/

Mine doesn't have any info saved, it says that only I am able to view it, and there is a big button to clear searches
10/24/2012 11:43:19 AM
the fact that it's accessible is obnoxious.
10/24/2012 12:13:23 PM
accessible by you or accessible at all? i'm not surprised whatsoever that fb is keeping track of searches, in fact i'd be surprised if they weren't. the fact that they are showing your searches back to you, is a bit strange. i'd guess most users don't care to see their own search history, and the typical user who doesn't know this happens will only be likely to freak out about it and tell their friends fb is evil

im not interested in Facebook maintaining a visible and user facing record of the profiles through which I creep. Sure, it's only visible through my account, but all it takes is the wrong person looking through your search history even in an innocent way. It would be nice if there was an option to always clear searches, akin to private browsing options on internet browsers.
10/24/2012 3:15:25 PM
You can, it just requires you to remember to do it.

That's quite a vapid contribution you've just made to the thread though, no? Because I clearly acknowledge that I can go through the convoluted process of clearing a search history every time I utilize the search feature on Facebook. By clarifying that I would be satisfied with an option that automatically cleared the searches upon exit, akin to the "always browse privately" modes available in the various browsers, I'm very clearly manifesting my preference that I find the process egregious and typical of Facebook's ham-fisted and as, qntmfred put it, a bit strange, and ultimately invasive to the way that many people utilize the site.

and on top of it all, I bet it doesn't even erase your search history when you click "clear searches"it probably just hides it from you, but Zuck still has it on file in case he needs to blackmail you]

Google does the same thing.
