Can we get an official ruling/a little enforcement on previous rulings for acceptable behavior on TV show threads in Entertainment based on Books? I know it's been discussed ad nauseum in the True Blood thread, the Hunger Games thread, and the Walking Dead thread among many others and each time moderators have been fairly clear and consistant in saying that it is not ok to talk about the source material when discussing the TV show. Then several months go by, and book talk stirs back up again, and there ends up being a new discussion/debate/argument/flame war discussing the issue and the same arguments have to be rehashed again and again. If anything I'd like to create this thread as a place where I and others can just point to it and hopefully cut off needless debates and arguments about the issue again and again. On the last page of the Walking Dead thread alone there are at least 5 posts (not counting BigMan157's post which was blanked out) that reference the comic books and the differences, including references to characters that have not yet been named in the show and things that happened in the comics that may or may not happen in the show. I don't know how much clearer it needs to be said, but many, if not most people have expressed in the past that they do not want such discussion to take place no matter how seemingly harmless people think it may be. It is not up to the discretion of people that have read the source material to decide what constitutes a spoiler for other people that haven't. Other threads exist for the discussion of books for this exact reason. This needs to be a zero tolerance policy issue. In the past moderators have been quick to side with this line of thought, and if this is still the case then it would be helpful to have this thread as an end-all-discussion/warning to people that continue to post such content.

In the comics, owl meat is a key ingredient in dog food.

Maybe if I would have titled this thread "I'm ruining TWW because the mods are too god damn lazy to do their jobs" it would have gotten more attention.

Considering that it's you, we would just label you a hipster trying to be all ironic with bitching about trolling while trolling Tech Talk with your stupid shit as you listen to an upstart band's EP and rock out in your black thick framed glasses with your Starbuck's Mocha Fappechinoinyourmouth you damned hipster.

The owl pic makes me lol every time. Honestly it doesn't really matter to me but I'd have to side with Nacho. Should be that you can read an entertainment thread without having to worry about spoilers or in the case spoilers plus talk about the comic.

if somebody says it was Dale who got his leg cut off in the comics, when Dale is dead in the show, and Herschel had his leg cut off in the season opener, how does that ruin anything for you?i noticed some spoilers during season 2, and in the off season, but i haven't seen anything in the last couple weeks that made me think "OH NO!!!"we saw Michonne or whoever in the season finale of season 2...we don't technically know her name in the show yet (maybe M-Dog) but we are aware of the character...while the prison being a major setting in this season was given away a bit in season 2 discussion, I watched the Season 2 marathon months ago and Chris Hardwick was talking to lots of cast members, inside of a prison, so its not really a huge shocki don't like spoilers, but i haven't really seen anything that comes anywhere near to ruining any part of the show for me in the last 10 pages of the thread[Edited on October 18, 2012 at 11:06 PM. The majority of the discussion on the last two pages of that thread has still been about the comic books. I guess this is the part where I'm supposed to send a PM to a mod so they can "do something about it"?
10/23/2012 3:40:31 PM
No offense, but shut up. There hasn't been any information divulged that is going to spoil your watching of the tv show.

That's your opinion. Your opinion is not universal fact, nor is it shared by everyone reading that thread. And I'll shut up when I god damn well please.]
