I bet you all those dishes are thai and vietLaotian dishes are just a bunch of fish stews
9/19/2012 8:56:36 PM
It's basically Thai food...
9/19/2012 9:02:34 PM
So is it Chinese or Japanese?
9/19/2012 9:15:27 PM
Probably more on the chinese side
9/19/2012 9:17:39 PM
silly thai restaurant goers.that mess is coconut milk + curries + meat + veggiesI had some home-made tonight. That mess would have been a $16 bowl

9/19/2012 9:34:53 PM
The ocean? What ocean?
9/19/2012 9:40:50 PM
You are right about the price on these dishes. Pad Thai is almost $10/plate in some places for 3 pieces of shrimp, and noodles that cost less than $2 a pack. the curry dishes are made from a can anyway.[Edited on September 19, 2012 at 9:56 PM. Reason : ..]

I will definitely be dining here before my trip to the Nine Rivers country club.

9/19/2012 10:06:53 PM
ya ya ya
9/19/2012 10:16:40 PM
So what are the prices? There aren't any on their website.
9/20/2012 1:05:57 AM
How were their lunch prices because their dinner prices make no damn sense. Some of the stuff came out and we thought, "Yep, that's the right price for that," but then other stuff would come out and we'd be like, "Wait did they forget half the dish? " ^ You're looking at about $15/entree at dinner.[Edited on September 20, 2012 at 8:42 AM. Reason : a]

9/20/2012 8:58:09 AM
Lunch prices were about 8-10 bucks
9/20/2012 10:56:30 AM

9/20/2012 11:32:19 AM
Granted I've never been to Laos, or any other Laotian restaurants, but if the wiki page on their food is even remotely accurate http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lao_cuisine, then this place seems authentic enough for me, and even if it's not, still tastes damn good
9/20/2012 11:53:58 AM
why do white people love soup so much
9/20/2012 12:00:50 PM
What the fuck is a parsnip?

9/20/2012 12:08:50 PM

My Fraternity Brother built it (Owns a Real Estate Firm) but I haven't been to it yet. Heard it was good though. Will have to try it.
9/20/2012 4:04:35 PM
he didnt build it
9/20/2012 4:12:31 PM
yeah, that building has been standing for a long time. and the roads around it have been there for quite a while too.
9/20/2012 4:15:40 PM
I'm sure he meant that his frat brother was involved in the gutting and redesign of the interior, which definitely happened.David's Dumplings is pretty mediocre in my book. Love David, and love that he left the heads on my salt & pepper shrimp when I asked for it, but everything is expensive for the portion size, and a lot of the options aren't all that unique or different.[Edited on September 20, 2012 at 4:29 PM. if you want authentic (and assuming they make it old school), try the Lab (I think that's how it's spelled) and the papaya salad.Lab is pretty "safe" but papaya salad should have fish sauce and shrimp/crab paste. i.e. fermented/putrid shrimp, crab, and random animals/bugs that fall into the tanks
9/20/2012 8:17:59 PM
this place is really good. had the lettuce wraps and the caramalized ginger pork ribs and both were killer. gf had the green papaya salad which was good and super spicy. will go again.
9/26/2012 3:09:20 PM
I went there, service was horrible. Avoid the server we had, her name was Lao Zi
9/26/2012 3:19:06 PM
Glad this place finally opened. I will need to check it out soon.
