At least it isn't Fidel's brother Dennis.Unfortunately for us, it appears Usain Bolt is going to make his international debut tonight as he prepares for his Man U trial next summer. He should be a tough match up for the the back line if he can control the ball worth a damn. Also, the ghost of John Candy is taking over duties as Head Coach tonight after the FA was impressed with his performance in Cool Runnings.

Anyone watching Guatemala vs A&B? It looks like there is a foot of water on the field. It's making Davis Drive Park field 4 look like it is good enough to host a World Cup final.

More fixtures today!

England are utter shit.Foolish taking them at -1/2 at home.[Edited on September 11, 2012 at 3:53 PM. Reason : Lol if RvP is actually injured again away for Holland]
9/11/2012 3:47:40 PM
Agreed. Hodgson is on his way out if they keep up like this, especially considering their abysmal performance at the Eurocup.
9/11/2012 4:05:54 PM
huh? I thought the majority were generally pleased with the Euro effort, considering they had a new coach and compared to their World Cup performance. They were also getting slurped after that Moldova game last week.Hodgson is going to be the coach in 2014.
9/11/2012 4:29:25 PM
Maybe it's just the folks I have been speaking to but their performance in the Eurocup was straight up defense. The Italy game was ridiculous -- Joe Hart would save everything, kick the ball downfield and in less than 10 seconds Italy would have the ball again, take another shot, and it would start all over again. Joe Hart was incredible, I'll give them that, but there was no capability to maintain possession of the ball or develop any sort of attacking power. In general just unable to deliver against serious opposition.Although admittedly, they have been playing significantly better against Ukraine in the last 20 mins or so. Looks like a penalty kick now.[Edited on September 11, 2012 at 4:44 PM. Reason : It's good! Lampard was the right man for the job.]

jesus i had to check my hair when i saw this thread title to see if it was still there.I used to play the shit out of World Cup '98 for N64.

Only took #5 England 35 minutes to get a goal against #207 San Marino, off of a penalty.
10/12/2012 3:36:30 PM
#5 England. LOL.Spain leaves off Mata and Cazorla from their midfield and England calls up Jon Jo Shelvey and there are five spots between them?? God I love the FIFA World Rankings.
10/12/2012 3:47:17 PM
I, too, found that humorous.Wembley Stadium capacity - 90,000population of San Marino - 32,404[Edited on October 12, 2012 at 3:53 PM. Reason : if Spain had a B team, where would they be ranked?]
10/12/2012 3:53:05 PM
Watching Japan vs Italy opened my eyes to how awesome an Axis Powers tournament would be.

Are the stadiums/country going to be ready? Is it too dangerous in Brazil to consider going?[Edited on July 9, 2013 at 11:25 PM. Reason : A]
7/9/2013 11:24:40 PM
You mean the dozens of football stadiums already in place in a country that has soccer as it's most popular sport? A country with 4 national divisions (A, B, C, D) of professional soccer and two divisions of state professional teams (A and B)?No, no stadiums, not ready at all.
7/12/2013 10:22:24 PM
That's not particularly relevant given that the 12 World Cup stadiums are either brand new or being completely renovated.
7/13/2013 12:13:48 AM
Brazil is perfectly safe, just treat it like any other big city (I've been here for the last 2 months and I'm posting from there now). Don't be out late by yourself, don't wear expensive jewelry etc. A lot of tourist will be there you will be fine.
7/13/2013 1:26:10 AM
I wouldn't be concerned if it was just me and guys but i'm bringing the wife too. I'm glad to see a response from an educated person on the matter. Are American women generally treated well down there?[Edited on July 13, 2013 at 8:09 AM. Reason : Aaa]
7/13/2013 8:08:59 AM
My girlfriend came and visited while I'm down here. We walked everywhere in Rio and Salvador and never felt unsafe at anytime. The Brazilian people are extremely friendly and helpful. Although like most countries, except the US, personal space isn't a thing. If you are in a crowd or on a bus it will be tight. If you ever do feel unsafe, or it's late and you aren't sure where you are, grab a cab. They are about the same cost as US cabs (don't tip) and easily available. The only problem is that none of them speak English. Write your hotel address down and just hand the drive the slip of paper.Just be smart, treat it like any other big "high crime" city in the world. It's no different from DC, Detroit, Baltimore, etc.[Edited on July 13, 2013 at 11:47 AM. Reason : .]

[rant]I just found out my cousin is getting married back home in Iowa in June of 2014. No date set yet and today I have to miss the Gold Cup games because I have a birthday party for a 2 year old to go to. In 2006 the Italy game started while we were still at the church at my cousin's wedding in Garner. The USA always plays when I can't watch because of a birthday party of wedding! It is about an 18 to 20 hour drive from Raleigh back to northern Iowa where I am from. I'm guessing all of the USA games will be while we are driving across America, during the wedding, or during the wedding reception because some of the Confederation Cup games were held at 6 pm. ^My thought too. I just hope we aren't in West Virginia/Southern Ohio when the games are on.In 1998 we had to go visit my grandparents when I was back home while the US was playing their opening game vs Germany. It's always something.

Let's discuss the manly World Cup. The one being held in England in 2015.We play Canada in Charleston, S.C., in a qualifier August 17th.

No.
7/15/2013 8:12:42 AM
^^^They don't. Some relatives of mine have a vacation home out there and electronics don't work. You can't get a GPS, or cell phone signal. With my luck we would time it perfect, so I would be in that area when the games were going on.
