I'm excited because I've requested tickets to an SNL taping *crosses fingers*
8/29/2012 2:15:43 PM
I was up there last March and seriously thought about getting up at 5 am to stand in line to try and get day-of tickets (it was the Lohan episode, so I decided that it would be next to impossible)
8/29/2012 2:23:32 PM
^^ do you know what the L is
8/29/2012 3:07:31 PM
^they record rehearsals in case they really screw something up on the live show. The taped rehearsal footage gets used in place of the screwed up skit on reruns. Or it used to be that way.
8/29/2012 10:21:25 PM
It's still that way. They'll also use a rehearsal sketch if someone does something insane (like Martin Lawrence or Adrien Brody).
8/29/2012 10:34:27 PM
I've gone to 2 shows.... the first was the rehearsal with Rosario Dawson as the host, and the second was the live show with Jon Hamm and Michael Buble as the musical guest. The show sucks now, but being in the audience and watching how the stages are set up is amazing.
8/30/2012 1:30:52 PM
My friend Cecily was just announced as a cast member on the new season! I went through the iO improv training program with her, and she's probably the funniest person I've ever shared a stage with. Tim Robinson is awesome too. This gives me hope that this season will suck less.

http://www.avclub.com/articles/no-jason-sudeikis-isnt-leaving-saturday-night-live,84857/I was wrong about Sudeikis
9/12/2012 3:38:08 PM
^Yes! I'm actually stoked about this now.Laughing at how stupid our politicians are is very important to me.
9/12/2012 6:32:24 PM
big day of SNL news- Jay Pharoah taking over Obama from Armisenhttp://www.avclub.com/articles/saturday-night-live-gives-job-of-playing-barack-ob,84893/
9/12/2012 7:29:37 PM
More hits than misses. Props to the staff for keeping Seth McFarlane's awful shit quarantined to the monologue.
9/16/2012 12:51:38 AM
PSY-Lids skit was funny!
9/16/2012 2:43:20 AM
the puppeteer one was the bestand frank ocean was awesome
9/16/2012 3:50:56 PM
9/16/2012 6:00:44 PM
not sure how anyone could think that was anything less than a fantastic performance[Edited on September 16, 2012 at 6:58 PM. Reason : unless you're setting up some bait]
9/16/2012 6:53:56 PM
i wasn't keen on the second one, especially when it was "play tekken while john mayer noodles" timehowever, that first performance was killer
9/16/2012 9:29:19 PM
agreed on all countsI was referencing the first performance up there
9/16/2012 9:35:47 PM
9/16/2012 9:52:14 PM
The walls closing was part of the gag.You should go back and watch Puppet Class...Hader is truly excellent.
9/16/2012 10:20:36 PM
that was perfect, textbook Hader and easily the best sketch of the night
9/16/2012 10:27:49 PM
i enjoyed the voices one w/ macfarlane and predrad tooalso, macfarlane as Locthe was good stuff
9/17/2012 12:30:31 AM
I have to agree the john mayer part was weird
9/17/2012 12:34:49 AM
lol, just finished and watching the second performance I KNEW tgl and vb would hate the performance. I guess performance art/blues is lost on some people...lol at pointless noodling[Edited on September 17, 2012 at 2:14 AM. Reason : second performance was better]
9/17/2012 2:12:52 AM
That was the very height of pointless white boy noodling.I'm all for performance art. Morris Day ordering and eating dinner in the middle of a song is my all-time favorite SNL musical performance moment. If Frank Ocean wants to do a cute little walk-off at the end, that's fine, too, but not so John Mayer can pull his dick out and say, "Look, it's me, John Mayer! I still exist."Garbage. And I thought his playing was tasteful and appropriate on the first song.
9/17/2012 2:22:51 AM
20 seconds of soloing is not pointless nodling, if you really think that then theres no help for you[Edited on September 17, 2012 at 2:27 AM. Reason : its called an outro]
9/17/2012 2:26:49 AM
Fine, it's an outro.A stylistically incongruent, masturbatory outro, coincidentally performed by a guest star known for wankery.
9/17/2012 2:35:34 AM
i like how john mayer was mean mugging on the stage during the show finale, as if performing with frank ocean gives him more street cred than appearing on chappelle show or something
9/17/2012 2:42:05 AM
I mean you can get all upset over a 20 second guitar solo outro as much as you want, I just think its silly.and words like "masturbatory" and "wankery" clearly have no place here, not like he laid out some five minute noodle session, chill with the hyperbole[Edited on September 17, 2012 at 3:09 AM. Reason : .]
9/17/2012 3:07:13 AM
9/17/2012 7:29:11 AM
I was disappointed by the frank ocean performance, but I guess it was mainly because I was thinking Billy Ocean: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p5ZuagSaKjw
9/17/2012 9:43:45 AM
Googled this Frank Ocean guy, checked some content on youtube.I don't get it. I mean he's not bad, but absolutely nothing special. How'd he get the SNL gig?
9/17/2012 10:48:14 AM
by releasing one of the most critically hailed albums of the year
9/17/2012 10:52:56 AM
^true, but coming out of the closet helped get his name out there before his new album dropped.
9/17/2012 10:57:30 AM
doubtfulhe was up and coming since he released his EP Nostalgia, Ultra in 2011people in that music scene hailed that as the EP of the year and kanye, jay-z and beyonce REQUESTED to work with himthis was all before he came out of the closet
9/17/2012 11:01:09 AM
I thought MacFarlane was real funny, much better than I was expecting. I was anticipating an irritating performance, especially after watching the monologue.and I'm not into Frank Ocean's music, at all.
9/17/2012 11:03:58 AM
shocking[Edited on September 17, 2012 at 11:10 AM. Reason : f]
9/17/2012 11:10:08 AM
9/17/2012 11:29:00 AM
^^no, it's shocking that a tuff guy like yourself enjoys his smooth rhythym-and-blues jams
9/17/2012 12:20:17 PM
ok Earl
9/17/2012 2:00:17 PM
9/17/2012 2:12:52 PM
Kate McKinnon is easily the best out of the new wavers
10/8/2012 12:51:45 AM
i have a weird crush on Vanessa Bayer
10/8/2012 12:52:53 AM
as do I, and I can't explain it at all
10/8/2012 12:56:23 AM
that episode was dog shit
10/8/2012 8:46:36 AM
10/8/2012 12:01:58 PM
it was a below-average episode, but I thought the Bond girls commercial was excellent
10/8/2012 1:29:45 PM
Pretty bad.I think I grimaced through the entire construction worker bit.
10/8/2012 1:58:09 PM
10/9/2012 5:44:43 PM
I concur, but they cant all be good...even though that one was just straight bad
