I thought it was the internet at my old house because it kinda sucked from time to time, but its the same here and at work.I'm Krallum and I approved this message.

I have 30mbps and I can't watch a streaming 480p video, it's awful. I assumed it was TWC throttling like crazy.
8/23/2012 3:45:50 AM
Im glad I am not the only one. I thought it was just my internet connection being shitty.
8/23/2012 8:13:25 AM
why doesn't twc do what its customers ask and are willing to pay for and knock that shit off[Edited on August 23, 2012 at 8:24 AM. Reason : a]
8/23/2012 8:24:21 AM
Where are you finding these dick sucking vids? I though youtube doesn't allow nudity...
8/23/2012 8:43:38 AM
honestly, i kinda like it when youtube stops loading so i can play snake with the circling dots icon
8/23/2012 8:56:13 AM
Why are there so many ads?I'm Krallum and I approved this message.
9/13/2012 8:56:39 AM
Ads? What ads? Buy Premie you freeloader.]
9/13/2012 9:00:22 AM
twc isn't throttling it. google isn't making any money on it so they've resorted to adding a ton of ads and throttling it to keep costs down
9/13/2012 9:31:03 AM
now?
9/13/2012 11:26:49 AM
I have probs viewing trending videos... It seems the interface sometimes only provides me with recommended videos vs allowing me to browse the most popular category.

http://mitchribar.com/2013/02/time-warner-cable-sucks-for-youtube-twitchtv/This worked for me on my Macbook. The Windows instructions didn't work for my other laptop, although it has Windows XP.
3/11/2013 11:54:38 PM
^ yea!http://mitchribar.com/2013/02/how-to-stop-youtube-sucking-windows-guide/infinite win. works with my crappy n=1 sample of videos[Edited on March 12, 2013 at 1:26 AM. Reason : ]
3/12/2013 1:26:11 AM
it's not that badkinda sucks you can't tell when someone last logged in, though
3/12/2013 1:49:02 AM
I was trying to listen to this earlier today and it was so slow it took 40 minutes for 2:50 of the video to load.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iXrQAcYbHHo
3/12/2013 2:30:59 AM
The fucking ads are lightning quick, but then the actual video sits and loads for 5 minutes.
3/12/2013 6:34:51 AM
the mitchribar.com thing worked for me
3/12/2013 7:26:46 AM
For iptables (like on a Linux box, or in your DD-WRT/Tomato router):
/usr/sbin/iptables -A INPUT -s 173.194.55.0/24 -j DROP/usr/sbin/iptables -A INPUT -s 206.111.0.0/16 -j DROP
3/12/2013 7:45:01 AM
it wasn't limited to twc for me.youtube just doesn't want to preload enough
3/12/2013 8:37:26 AM
Apparently it's not just YouTube, or Twitch, or Vimeo, or even Netflix: Tons of streaming-video services use ISP-managed cache servers like the clogged ones that these firewall rules are blocking; usually the load-balancing works out fine and allows the main services to stay up.
3/13/2013 12:51:53 AM
To watch a ten second video, I must now watch a 30 second ad. Or when they put a 2 minute ad, you can skip in 5 seconds, I end up watching the ad because it is interesting. I spend more time watching ads than actual videos. And everything is a copyright infringement.
3/13/2013 11:16:24 AM
^ Thats your fault for not having an adblock.
3/13/2013 12:57:49 PM
does adblock remove the preview videos on youtube?
3/13/2013 1:03:14 PM
does for me[Edited on March 13, 2013 at 1:32 PM. Reason : chrome at least Ø]
3/13/2013 1:17:28 PM
Yep, sure does. At least the chrome adblock plugin does. I don't use the others.
3/13/2013 1:23:32 PM
Adblock Plus for Google Chrome (and also Chrome Adblock) does that just fine, and so does Adblock Plus for Firefox, and possibly even some well-chosen Tracking Protection Lists for IE9+ could do the job (like the ones based on EasyList).
3/13/2013 2:22:52 PM
Sorry, i mean the Adblock Plus for Google Chrome one is the one I use, I didn't realize there was a Chrome Adblock as well.
3/13/2013 3:35:47 PM
now mine is sucking dick.wasnt doing it before but about 20 seconds into every video it stops. wont even buffer.

3/13/2013 9:12:36 PM
i did the command line entries but i dont really see how they helpstill have to pause a 20 minute video and let it load for 5 minutes if i wanna watch in 1080p
3/13/2013 9:26:52 PM
that shit fixed my problems instantlyi had been cussing youtube for monthsused to buffer so slowly even on lower resolutionsnow i watch 1080p like a boss[Edited on March 13, 2013 at 9:31 PM. Reason : s]

Blocking this worked for me206.111.0.0/16http://www.reddit.com/r/technology/comments/13kmvd/have_time_warner_internet_but_can_barely_stream/c750w8x?context=1
3/13/2013 9:49:33 PM
That's one of the ranges that this thread talked about already
3/13/2013 10:00:09 PM
right, but the mitchribar didn't work for me with 173.194.55.0/24 added in. I have better luck with just 206.111.0.0/16. Why I don't know. Shouldn't make a difference if there's multiple blocks or if 173 is before 206. So just dropping the 173 is what worked for me the best. It's odd that it did make a difference. No idea why.
3/13/2013 10:10:16 PM
didnt worktried all that. stopped after 2 min now.so i improved some.
3/13/2013 10:11:30 PM
TIL that 'tis better to use REJECT than DROP: http://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~peterb/network/drop-vs-reject
/usr/sbin/iptables -A INPUT -s 173.194.55.0/24 -j REJECT/usr/sbin/iptables -A INPUT -s 206.111.0.0/16 -j REJECT
3/13/2013 10:16:35 PM
Methinks these rules cause most streams to fail to load in the Twitch app.
3/17/2013 3:43:01 PM
Adblock doesn't completely remove the preview videos on youtube...it just gives you a black screen that says there is an adblocker and a countdown...so you still have to wait
3/17/2013 3:47:06 PM
Some part of my content-blocking strategy must be working, like maybe my use of Peter Lowe's Ad Servers as a PAC file.
3/18/2013 1:56:17 PM
For U-Verse, the range apparently also goes from 173.194.55.0 to 173.194.55.255, or 173.194.55.0/24; more generally some investigation with Firebug, Fiddler, Dragonfly, Chrome Dev Tools, Wireshark, etc. is in order.
3/22/2013 2:39:43 AM
Other IP addresses and ranges to watch out for include 173.194.54.0/24, 173.194.57.46, 173.194.24.249, and 64.214.227.42: http://www.dslreports.com/forum/remark,28049907Notably, the range I just posted and the one I mentioned earlier could be combined into 173.194.54.0/23
3/22/2013 8:33:33 AM
The blocking IP thing I posted earlier worked for about two days, but now it's back to the same old shit. I might try ^ when I get home
3/22/2013 9:50:02 AM
I get some delays, and occasionally some YouTube videos fail to load, but it seems to be more of a problem with the PeerBlock way (which blocks both incoming and outgoing connections, with no way to specify just one direction) than anything else.
3/22/2013 10:12:35 AM
Maybe this only works decently when your connection was fast to begin with; for me it's not much improvement, and I'm frequently unable to buffer any more video, so I got rid of the IP-blockage ITT.
