I like this game quite a bit, very in depth and different. It's a dynasty simulator.

There's a sweet Game of Thrones mod for it.

Just picked it up on amazon for 9.99 last night, sale won't be on for too much longer probably. All the DLC except the latest is also like 60% off

You can use the codes you get from amazon to activate it and install it in steam

The whole point of the game is to take a dynasty(house) and keep it going through succession(always having an heir) and making it as awesome as possible either through conquest or deeds

with the sword of islam dlc you can play as the muslim countries. I've been trying the Seljuks and have been having a lot of fun, took armenia from the byzantines forced the greek orthodox vassals I got to convert to sunni to get them banished from their families and ensure that their land stays within my realm and I think I may have my heir declare a holy war for jerusalem

After crushing a revolt early in the game I imprisoned the leader of the revolt ransomed him for money and then assassinated him and revoked his title from his heir who i then had killed

It seems really interesting. But the learning curve is absolutely huge and definitely a turn off. I prefer Europa Universalis.

Europa Universalis has a much steeper learning curve than Crusader Kings II.

I find it much easier to manage my countries than it was to manage all the relationships and counties that are in CK2.

I'm not finding the learning curve that steep. The systems seem easy enough to understand, and the game give you all the information you need to understand whats going on in the scroll over text for things. You play and "lose" the first few games, savescum and try different strategies or try to come at a problem from a different way. But then the best way to learn any Paradox game is to just play it and try things out.
