Has a whopping pre-order count of 3 at the local Gamestop. From the creator of Final Fantasy Hironobu Sakaguchi who left after FFIX. Explains why maybe X was the last good one. Music from Nobuo Uematsu alone makes this worth picking up for me. Drops today.

^Thanks for the info. Now go back to playing your PC ports with an inferior control schema. (Fanboism is fun, isn't it!).I've been debating on this and Xenosaga. I just wish they didn't handle the situation with these games so badly. Then again, I guess we should be thankful that they even localized them, which is more than can be said for Fatal Frame and Tales of Graces (grrr PS3 port).

Xenoblade was really hyped up so in the end I thought it was underwhelming. I think if you ignored the bazillion quests and just played through the story it would have been more fun. I was overleveled and weary from too many mundane quests. I haven't picked up my copy of The Last Story yet but I hope it isn't quite as over-hyped. I also heard that some Gamestops didn't get their copies yesterday.^Indeed, I just played through Crysis 2 on the PS3. I shouldn't have even bothered.

I heard The Last Story was about 20 hours long or so, which means it is much more concise. Sounds like it might be more your thing. As a kid I played games to death and did the whole 100% completion thing. I even did that a little into college. I now find myself more interested in concentrating on just the main questlines. Side quests are still good if they have their own plot. Random exploration is can also be terrific if it is rewarding and yields surprises (best instance of this was finding the Assassin's Guild in Vivic in Morrowind). I think this is why I loved Skyrim and hated the new Zelda.[Edited on August 15, 2012 at 11:57 AM. Reason : ]
