Anyone played this yet? I'm picking up my copy today after work.

I loved the first one. It was kinda like an adult Zelda. I probably won't pick this one up till the price comes down.

Well that's your loss then because the game is excellent. It's a lot different than the first game and has a lot more RPG elements in it.

I remember the first one being decent fun for a while. Since it's so different are there any other current games it's comparable to... or is it more like the first but with more options to select when leveling.

Got a chance to play it a bit. If the first is like zelda this one is like they were going for zelda + prince of persia + devil may cry.

sounds good to me

This game is amazing. If I had to compare it to other games in its class, it's Shadow of the Colossus + Prince of Persia + Darksiders 1.

So now the questions for the experts because I truly suck at this game. I do fairly decent when 1 on 1, even with the bosses. The problem is large packs of enemies. The problem is twofold. One I have to constantly be dodging because there's always an enemy that is striking. Dodging means I can't attack. Forget a combo, It's dodge like crazy maybe get a hit in. Two, my weapons seem useless. It takes many, many hits to bring down the most pathetic enemy in the pack. The larger enemies in a pack take for-ev-er. Also I'm noticing that for tougher enemies you often have to dodge 4 and 5 times to evade just one strong attack, and even then they can still hit you... I'm probably dodging all wrong.I guess I really suck at item selection. Generally I've gone for the higher damage dealing scythe and the higher damage fast secondary since like I said, dodge, dodge, dodge, dodge, dodge means no time for slow attacks. For everything else I usually go for an item that has health regen, since I'm always running very low on health. In both cases I'm using the highest base damage output for my weapons - they're still like nerf bats making combat a tedious affair. The best weapon I ever had had life leech but I got rid of it because it did less than half base damage of most other items. Wish I didn't get rid of it, that was the only way to stay alive in mobs. Even though that would mean I'd have to do 3x the amount of hits... crazy.Maybe I have bad gear, maybe I'm under-leveled for the area I'm in, no idea. I also have about 16 skill points to assign, I don't want to "waste" them on the wrong thing... so I end up having neither. There's a respec, so I don't know why I'm saving them. And another similarity between this game and zelda. They decided to do that thing where you have to sit through a confirmation screen each and every time you find a map/key in a dungeon. Yes zelda, yes darksiders I know what a key looks like and what it does. Please stop.[Edited on August 22, 2012 at 7:49 PM. Reason : -]

I use the hammer/glaive/axe weapon for clearing out large groups of attacking enemies. If you can get your hand on a possessed hammer/glaive/axe, power that thing up with fairly good items so it will actually do some damage. There are several 3 button combos that will do major damage to swarming enemies in a ranging sweep motion. Y,Y,Y on the xbox is an easy combo that works well and has knockback. Knockback damage is important because it sends lower enemies flying. Use your skill points. At any point in the game, you can go to Vulgrim and respec all them for 1000 coins. That means if you don't like an ability, you can respec and start all over. You also get an achievement for doing 1 respec. The teleport slash is VERY handy, especially with the Death Blossom (enemies explode after transport slash hit) and Immolation (causes fire damage) enabled. The "Murder" skill grants health, wraith, and hit point damage in different sections.I use Teleport Slash (charging reaper attack - good for clearing enemies and dealing higher damage to bosses), Murder (, Harvest (360 spinning Reaper slash - good for clearing enemies and dealing higher damage to bosses), and Unstoppable (I haven't used this much but it increases your melee by a good amount for a short period).

The Crucible and Soul Arbiter's Maze levels on Apocalyptic difficulty can go to hell. I finished the Soul Arbiter's Maze last night. It took me probably an hour because of the damn directional bullshit you have to do.

Finally completed this game last night in it's entirety (all acheivements) which was one of the biggest pains in the ass I've ever forced myself through. The last boss is the easiest boss battle I've ever seen. Overall, I loved the game.Pros:The combat is very fun. Lot's of moves and weapons to choose from. The visuals are a comic book style which I think really works for the game. There are tons of side missions. This game should take at least 25 hours to complete everything in it (unless you cheat and look stuff up online).Cons: The camera angle still needs a lot of work. It can be very disorienting at times when you are in large battles. The weapons in the game have a lot of variety without making them really unique. Get a high level possessed weapon, increase the critical damage and critical chance and never look back. Some of the side missions are pretty much busy work. There are 3 different quests that involve something along the lines are "Find this tiny rock hidden behind shit."I'd give it a 9 out of 10 and I definitely think it's worth owning. I collect games and this series is definitely good.[Edited on September 11, 2012 at 10:44 AM. Reason : .]

I'm in the middle of loving this game. Been playing for a few weeks (actual playtime is just a couple of hours a day plus there was a weeklong trip out of town). I think the designers were trying to out-Iron Maiden the guys who made Brutal Legends.

Argul's Tomb was released yesterday I believe. It is the free pre-order dlc.
9/26/2012 11:08:39 AM
Awesome, I just got around to beating Argul a few days ago and really liked the look of his dungeon. Hopefully the DLC will expand on that.
9/26/2012 3:02:00 PM
There are supposedly at least 2 more DLCs coming this year.
9/27/2012 9:05:54 AM
Hmmmm... cleared the tomb in 1.5 hours. It was okay but I'm glad I didn't have to pay for it. It wasn't worth 7 bucks.Makes me skeptical about any upcoming DLC.
9/27/2012 3:41:49 PM
it'll depend on the content but I'm hoping they'll bundle it
