http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/08/13/chick-fil-a-davidson-college-suspends_n_1772685.html?utm_hp_ref=mostpopularDavidson College in North Carolina has become the first college to give Chick-fil-A the boot.Students at Davidson began protesting against serving Chick-fil-A at school sponsored late-night food-and-music events called After Midnight, which are held on one Saturday each month. An online petition gathered nearly 500 signatures calling for the school to stop serving Chick-fil-A at campus sanctioned events. Some Davidson students oppose the company's support of anti-gay groups, and its president, Dan Cathy, admitting to being against same-sex marriage rights....

very. interesting.Let's see what comes of this.I for one would be thrilled if they kicked them State's campus too.

Intolerance is on the rise. Pretty soon it will be yet again okay to boot gay and black run businesses.

Its a private university... it really is not an issue. I guess it would be more of an issue if it was a public university that did it. An important part of it would be their reasoning for banning as well.
8/13/2012 8:58:25 PM
^^^Oh yes hating gay people is the same as being black.
8/13/2012 10:08:30 PM
I'm surprised that a university with even a slight Christian affiliation would boot an obviously Christian-run business for the fact that its owner expressed a right-wing Christian belief...then again Davidson's affiliation is Presbyterian, not exactly an evangelical fundie denomination (albeit also not the kind of liberal denomination that would barely seem Christian to someone who suffered through an evangelical milieu as a kid).

Anybody who seriously advances the "being anti-bigotry is bigoted" line seriously needs to put a bullet between their eyes. [Edited on August 14, 2012 at 9:25 AM. Reason : .]
8/14/2012 9:24:25 AM
seriously? V, I was just poking at the fact that you used 'seriously' twice in one sentence.[Edited on August 14, 2012 at 9:38 AM. Reason : .]
8/14/2012 9:33:57 AM
Seriously, like I am literally asking, with utmost sincerity, for anyone who uses that line to pick up a gun or purchase on if necessary, load a single bullet in it, put it under their chin pointed slightly backwards, and pull the trigger.edit: whoops I mean between the eyes, you get the idea.[Edited on August 14, 2012 at 9:39 AM. Reason : really it's not important as long as it passes through a large volume of brain matter]
8/14/2012 9:37:28 AM
So you believe other people deserve to die because you don't agree with their beliefs?
8/14/2012 3:14:08 PM
let me guess, that makes him a bigot?
8/14/2012 3:52:51 PM
Dead!???!?
8/14/2012 3:55:20 PM
^^^Myself, I just want to point out to you that not all beliefs are equally valid.
8/14/2012 4:13:21 PM
That doesn't matter. People have the right to believe what they want. And before you mention it, Str8Foolish also has the right to believe that certain people should kill themselves, just like other people have the right to believe that Str8Foolish's mother is the worst prostitute they ever spent five bucks on
8/14/2012 4:20:24 PM
I'm a bigot for marriage equality! I'm also a bigot against racists!
8/14/2012 4:39:52 PM
Yes, people have the right to be wrong. It does matter when their beliefs affect their actions to the detriment of people for no good damned reason.Like believing gay people are subhuman and then voting or supporting lobbyists to prevent them access to the same rights and privileges as heterosexuals, for instance.
8/14/2012 4:40:24 PM
Or petitioning to have dozens of innocent workers lose their jobs because of the beliefs held by someone in their organization that their boss's boss has never even met.[Edited on August 14, 2012 at 4:45 PM. Reason : ]
8/14/2012 4:45:10 PM
Were the contract workers on the Death Star innocent? Also, who has lost their job exactly?[Edited on August 14, 2012 at 4:54 PM. Reason : .]
8/14/2012 4:53:26 PM
If we're going to bring fictional scenarios, yes there were likely millions of innocent people on both Death Stars. I don't know what the point there is, there was a war going on.And the people who worked at the Davidson Chick-Fil-A lost their jobs, presumably.
8/14/2012 4:59:11 PM
Those who lost their jobs obviously understood the companies Christian values. They used their own free will to apply and work for chick fil a. Davidson, a private college, disagreed with the values of a company and removed it from campus. Seems ok to me.

Even if it was a public college, why would it matter, if it was the student body that made the decision?
8/14/2012 6:18:01 PM
^ there was a NY university where the student body voted to keep Chick-fil-a. I agree, a vote seems the most fair way.
8/14/2012 7:14:22 PM
HaThat would be NYU.Also this is funny bc it's in a nyu food court and is only accessed by nyu students. It's also the only chick fil a in the entire city. [Edited on August 14, 2012 at 7:26 PM. Reason : Also]

You're right, I didn't read the article, I don't have time to read every article in every thread I post in. This action by davidson is extremely insignificant, not even thread worthy really, could have gone in the main CFA thread. They changed the food they serve at a late night event, that's not really a major development for either side of the argument.
8/15/2012 11:21:58 AM
Why are you do butthurt about it?
8/15/2012 11:56:44 AM
I'm not butthurt about it. I support legalized gay marriage but I also support the first ammendment. Now that I see that this story was basically nothing then it's no big deal. I was never really commenting about this story in particular and didn't know or care to know much about it. I assumed davidson had shut down a campus CFA but that turned out to be incorrect, what are you gonna do.
8/15/2012 1:49:19 PM
how about not taking your "Jump to Conclusions" mat out of the closet before posting
8/15/2012 2:08:10 PM
Nah I think i'm going to continue drawing unfounded conclusions in issues I don't care about enough to read an article for.
8/15/2012 2:17:35 PM
I admire your honesty.

1/29/2013 8:22:11 AM
youd better they have new sauces
1/29/2013 10:51:20 AM
Probably gay sauces.
