"1. You Don't Have A Dream
As kids, most of us dream boldly and publicly. But as we notice that not all our dreams come true and that it can be embarrassing to admit to one we may fail at, we stop talking about our dreams and stop having them. But in the present moment (which is all that we have), dreams make us happy, even if they don't come true. Start yourself on a diet of dreams in all areas of your life. Just focusing here changes everything for the better even though it can feel vulnerable and scary at first."

My dream is to win the lotto. Or find a Rembrandt in my grandmother's closet. Whichever happens first.

i wanna find the aliens and chat them up.
live forever
discover secrets of the universe
learn more about humans and maybe work toward our species being relevant to the perfect thinking machine that can think an infinite # of thoughts even in a finite, cooling universe.
(i think it is proven that such a machine would have no hard drive) i guess it would be all synapse and no memories. like a chihuahua, I suppose

this...but let me stipulate that "win" means many millions of dollars ($20M free and clear, minimum)

and it's not so can buy a bunch of shit i don't need...it's so i can travel with my wife and ensure that my immediate family's welfare and security are seen to

fuck the sports cars...i'd get a nice station wagon or 5-door hatchback

fuck the mansion...give me some scenic property and a modest house

i'd definitely fly first class and stay in nice hotels (still not crap like the "penthouse suite" or whatever), though

2. You Let Fear And Brattiness Rule You

What stops us from daring to dream? Brattiness and fear of disappointment. Taking action toward your dream in the face of fear or "not feeling like it" makes people happy and proud. In fact, this kind of action is the most important determiner of happiness. Most people have the misconception that it's success that makes them happy, but moment to moment we find that living in integrity is what actually makes people happiest. That means fighting the chicken and brat in your head and demanding that your dreams rule and your actions align.

I like it and find truth in it. Sometimes it's hard for me to push myself for fear of failure. Glad I have someone in my life to keep me accountable.

Things that kill my happiness?

1) The ability to fail. Seriously, sometimes you have to suck it up and persevere your way through some things you damn well know you can do, no matter how difficult. These situations make us stronger.

2) Flaky people- If you can't commit to something we schedule, that means you're not taking it seriously.

3) No coffee in the morning. Addiction is a bitch.

Being forced to rely on others to accomplish something, shit, anything. That pretty much ruins half of the things I do at work.

yep. I can do whatever I need to get done to a point, then others drop the ball. Then it comes back to me.

So my dream is to not rely on others

I hate advice that's written to make people happier. Happiness is a recent invention of society like Hallmark cards. If you want to really be happy, stop making your own happiness in your life.
