Anyone know how good of coverage T-Mobile gets around campus? I've been considering switching to it for it's free WiFi calling, I figure I'll be at a hotspot >80% of the time...

T-Mobile has worse coverage than a prepaid carrier in most of NC.

I had them about about a year while in Raleigh. In my experience it was exceptional downtown and much faster than Sprint's 4G for data. If you go to North Raleigh particularly out by Louisburg up 401 they have almost no coverage, so little if you spend any time up that way you can get out of your contract

I'm not in Raleigh, but I have a related question. I'm thinking about getting a Galaxy Nexus and the T-Mobile $50 plan which includes unlimited talk, text, and data. (although they apparently limit your data speed after 100MB on that plan)

My question is ... what's the catch? How is T-Mobile offering a data plan for about half of what everybody else charges? Are there a bunch of fees? (other than the usual extra $10 a month or so) Does it suck? Has anybody used this plan and can give me some advice? Right now I don't have a smart phone so I have no idea what 100MB of data is like. I won't be uploading videos or anything data-hogging.

I have a galaxy nexus with straight talk unlimited everything for $45/month. uses att AND tmo towers. best setup you can get right now imo. android without carrier bloatware is a thing of beauty

yeah, i think that if i were going to spend $50/month on unlimited everything, i'd look at straight talk...there's no contract with them, right?

sure, you won't have the coverage and speed of verizon, but you'll pay the half the price and MOST of the time it won't make any difference...once my contract is up with vzw next summer, and despite the awesome alltel plan (with unlimited data) that i'm on, i'm dumping them and looking at something like straight talk

t mobile has announced mobile test drive. basically you get an iphone 5s to try their network out for a week. apparently there are no strings attached you just have to return the phone to a store undamaged. i am going to probably check it out, but anyone that has t mobile now give me an idea of their service around raleigh and the surrounds area?
