Hey guys,so my toilet in my master bath has been making some strange noises and leaking a little bit into the bowl, and its getting on my nerves having to listen to it. I don't believe it's the flapper, but I know little about diagnosing plumbing problems, although I can replace parts if I need to. I made a short youtube video describing the problem, I can't inbed, but if you take a look you'll see what I'm talking aboutany plumbers or handymen out there that can offer a little advice? Thanks[Edited on June 5, 2012 at 2:12 PM. Reason : but i can -psi]

you can replace pretty much every moving part in the tank for like $20 or less. just buy a kit and replace it all.

if its leaking around the base you may need a new donut for the floor but otherwise tank stuff is a 5 min fix

quick fix is to remove the 4 screws on the outside top of the fill valve and take off the top. you'll see a small, round solid rubber gasket that stops the flow of water. remove it, flip it over, and reinstall. this will stop the problem for a couple years actually. however, as previously posted, you can buy a rebuild kit for ~$20. fluidmaster makes a decent kit. just be sure to put a bowl or something under the supply line to catch the remaining water in the tank when you remove the fill valve. i would also purchase a braided stainless-steel supply line as well. hell, go ahead and buy a new trip lever also to get rid of that cheap contractor crap.
