Like/dislike? How do you eat yours? I like a little butter and some salt on mine but really I'll eat them almost any way. I love grits.

I make them with cream and beef broth. So good. I think I will make some today.
5/20/2012 11:21:50 AM

5/20/2012 11:35:08 AM
Shrimp and grits FTW
5/20/2012 11:39:30 AM
shrimp too, but it needs to not be in a gross butter/cream sauce
5/20/2012 11:41:32 AM
I can eat them any waySalt and pepper, butter and cheese, shrimp or sausage, etcAlso like them with butter and sugar, that's how I always used to eat them as a kid.
5/20/2012 12:11:25 PM

5/20/2012 12:49:49 PM
where can you get good grits in raleigh? porters has good shrimp/grits iirc, but they're fucking expensive
5/20/2012 1:18:05 PM
I like grits with a shitload of butter and maybe a little pepper.
5/20/2012 1:21:58 PM
Grits are fucking disgusting.
5/20/2012 1:24:49 PM
I love the cheese grits at Poole's.
5/20/2012 1:30:58 PM
^^ You sir are mistaken.
5/20/2012 1:31:37 PM
pinch of sugar, cheese gritscreamy gritsI know a couple places back home will put just a bit of egg in them, always liked that
5/20/2012 1:33:43 PM
That's like saying rice is delicious because you can cover it in delicious hibachi style food, or pasta is yummy because you can cover it in a nice red sauce. Grits themselves are flavorless and have an awful texture. I've lived in the south for 21 years now and not once have I had grits that actually tasted good.
5/20/2012 1:35:02 PM
LOVE grits. They're great alone and a universal breakfast condiment. My favorite way to eat them is on an egg and cheese sandwich, but i also like to cut up a link or two of apple maple sausage into plain grits. [Edited on May 20, 2012 at 1:37 PM. Reason : .]
5/20/2012 1:35:45 PM
Rice, pasta and grits are all flavorless without at least adding salt to the water you cook them in.
5/20/2012 1:37:45 PM
^^^ sounds like you just eat shitty grits. Slow cooked stone ground grits are delicious on their own.[Edited on May 20, 2012 at 1:39 PM. Reason : u]

I've had them at nice restaurants, people's homes, and bad restaurants. Never once have I thought they were good.Granted, it's been about 10 years since I've had them, but the first 10 times somebody said, "come on, try these, they're good" I tried them and didn't care for them. At some point you just realize you don't care for a certain food and stop eating it.
5/20/2012 1:42:42 PM
I ♥ them, especially when they congeal so much they become gelatinous and easily eaten with a fork.

shit load of sugar, because grits are nasty and sugar is good.I'm Krallum and I approved this message.
5/20/2012 2:39:47 PM
I'm not sure I'm a fan of sweet grits. I definitely like savory grits though.
5/20/2012 2:41:38 PM
I gotta agree with Kurtis in that I hate the texture, and don't care for the taste
5/20/2012 2:42:44 PM
I don't know how I feel about sweet grits, though I guess it wouldn't be much different from cream of wheat.
5/20/2012 7:53:32 PM
Yup, just not a fan of damp sand.
5/20/2012 7:56:24 PM

Stone-ground grits all the way.I love me some grits, but I will admit I am fucking grits' cousin, polenta.
5/20/2012 7:59:23 PM

With smoked gouda, a little salt, a little pepper, and maybe a touch of hot sauce. Likely just the cheese.
5/21/2012 9:06:30 PM
The only time I've ever heard of sugar in grits was in a Fleming and John song. Otherwise, it's just unheard of.You like to eat your grits with butter, salt, and sugarYou drink your coffee instant and black
5/21/2012 9:12:04 PM
Dammit I wish I had some grits with scrambled eggs and bacon mixed in.
6/19/2012 2:11:54 PM
6/19/2012 2:25:15 PM
^^ Back when I would commute to Salisbury from Raleigh, I would sometimes stop at Biscuitville to get their grits bowl. Grits, bacon, eggs, and cheese in a bowl with a biscuit on the side
6/19/2012 2:31:05 PM
Sounds fantastic!
6/19/2012 2:40:08 PM
