I know this has always been a major problem in soccer and basketball and football but lets have a thread to put together clips of flopping, discuss teams and players who abuse flopping and have mastered its art. Also, any ideas or literature about ways for leagues to combat flopping should be posted here.I will start the discussion with the Miami Heat. They are the most disgusting floppers in the history of the game. Wade first mastered the art in 2006 and has now taught his entire team how to flop like him. A lot of times they really do get fouled or charged on but they all act as if they are hit by a truck and die to the floor. Biggest pussies I've ever seen.

I don't understand why this is considered ok or just gamesmanship. I understand why players do it, and I also understand that referees in the heat of the moment can't always tell. If there is tape of an obvious flop, players should be suspended for multiple games after the fact. It would be similar to the way Goodell handles player conduct violations. It would put a stop to that shit in a heartbeat.

http://espn.go.com/nba/playoffs/2012/story/_/id/7926130/2012-nba-playoffs-commissioner-david-stern-says-thinks-flopping-legitimate-concernI don't think it's that big of a problem in basketball but I can understand why diving and feigning injuries turns so many people off of soccer. I've only legitimately been passionate about soccer for the last 2 or 3 years with a moderate interest for about a decade and watching people go down with minimal contact is the easiest reason for my friends to dismiss the game. I love Holland but I hate watching Robben take spill after spill. FIFA is far from the best governing body in sports, but you'd think some of the individual leagues would take more of a consideration into stomping it out. Retroactive action after games needs to take place and even a single yellow for being caught diving in the game may be too light.TL;DR absolutely disgracful from Morten Gamst Pedersen.

From Kobe's interview about not taking charges.
5/15/2012 8:21:04 PM
Taking a charge is a skill, and an important part of the defensive game.Flopping is bullshit. Both are dependant on officiating so more popular teams and more popular players can take advantage of them. Dwayne Wade can drive into the nearest defender and scream/flop to get a whistle. NC State can take a charge in the ACC semifinal and not get a whistle.Thats why football/hockey are great, if you get fucked up and fall down you jump back up and keep playing, unlike in soccerr (i just watched the oylmpics and wow there is some pussy shit)

amile will be learning this technique 1st hand
5/17/2012 7:09:00 PM
^ x6 whoever made that is a Tottenham fan...over half of the flops were Chelsea and Arsenal players, and I've seen much worse than those.
5/18/2012 7:25:04 AM
^ Still haven't figured out why they don't suspend players for shit like that. There's a reason they all keep doing it, the ref is going to call it a dive once every never.
5/18/2012 7:40:46 AM
Soccer is officiated by one governing body, FIFA. Because FIFA has stupidly decided that all their rules must be implemented anywhere they have authority soccer doesn't have things like goal line technology, post game video review, or more than 1 fucking official on the field.Soccer does a worse job than even baseball in terms of utilizing technology. If they wanted to put a stop to diving they could do it in most leagues tomorrow. Start reviewing every game and suspend players for 3 games for no contact dives and 1-2 games for dives with contact that are still blatantly dives. Unfortunately 3rd world countries governed by FIFA don't have the capability to review every game so we have to deal with Italian hitting the deck like they've been shot every time somebody comes near them.
5/18/2012 10:18:59 AM
Wasn't that the goalie? Dude passed up a free shot at the goal to flop?
5/18/2012 10:31:37 AM
Yeah, I guess he had already made his mind up that he was going all in on the flop
5/18/2012 10:34:53 AM
5/18/2012 10:37:01 AM
why didn't the goalie even try to get a hand on the ball? when i played goalie, you tried to take the dribbler out in those situations, as long as your primary goal was to to first get your hand (or body) on the ball.
5/18/2012 10:50:49 AM
He was probably outside of the box. I don't know why he would be outside the box, but that seems like the only logical reason.
5/18/2012 10:56:57 AM
oh yeah, i guess that's the box behind him.
5/18/2012 11:05:58 AM
No, he was still inside the box. Krul wasn't in a good position to go for the ball without picking up a penalty + a card. Most players (maybe not Carroll) can easily knock the ball ahead while dribbling and just round the keeper or at least leave themselves free and thus vulnerable to pick up a penalty. Andy looked like he thought Krul was going to make contact and started going down.I really can't blame Carroll though. The way soccer is called, the benefits of diving far outweight the consequences. The best that could happen would be a penalty kick for Liverpool and a red card for Krul. The worst would be a yellow card for Carroll. It's an easy call if you're a striker.
