My family usually goes out for Korean once a month. In fact, we went with some friends Friday night for cook-your-own Korean. We had Bulgogi, and Kalbi. We also dig jabchae.Sometimes I go for some bibimbap, seen below.

Only idiots who know nothing about Korea say dog. Bimbimbap, Bulgogi, Samgyapsul, jabchea, Mandoo... Man its all good! The only thing I can't bring myself to eat it Bundigie - Smells like dirty gym socks and looks terrible.

^ so you've been around korea and never seen a kagogi place?bc i have.(in before wolfpackgrr)also, this"gochujang on everything"even cucumbers.also, thissoondubu jjigae during the winter though[Edited on April 23, 2012 at 9:13 AM. Reason : e][Edited on April 23, 2012 at 9:16 AM. Reason : e]

I have seen Kagogi, but it is not everywhere and definitely not a staple food and expensive compared to most other offerings. Kagogi is mostly older generation food. Dog has become a stereotype that just isnt that true. Most Koreans don't eat dog and those that do do eat just any dog. The dog they eat has been special raised to be eaten. Its kinda like veal here in the US.Cucumber Kimchi is the best.[Edited on April 23, 2012 at 8:51 PM. Reason : Damn spell check]

Cumbersome Kimchi? The kind that 7 Mary 3 sings about?
4/23/2012 8:40:07 PM
Only because it's the only Korean food I've cooked at home. http://allrecipes.com/recipe/korean-bbq-short-ribs-gal-bi/

Oi (Oh-ee) Kimchi. You've been to Korea and never had it?
4/23/2012 8:50:44 PM
I have, I was making fun of your typo.
4/23/2012 9:01:43 PM
all I know is that beef bulgogi and the lunchbox are delicious from that place Waba express across the library. Where do normal people go to eat this stuff?
4/23/2012 9:24:35 PM
^^ Thanks. I was able to fix it in time.

kim chi is disgusting.looks, and smells like garbage, and it's probably what garbage tastes like.
4/30/2012 12:13:55 AM
Funny u mention ^ cause i've been told indians don't particularly like Korean dishes. [Edited on April 30, 2012 at 1:32 AM. Reason : .]
4/30/2012 1:30:41 AM
I like lots of other korean dishes, especially the meat ones. Granted, I don't know how bastardized the dishes I've had are, and probably aren't anything near authentic.
4/30/2012 4:48:23 PM
Y'all have me craving bibimbap now
4/30/2012 4:51:49 PM
me too
4/30/2012 4:53:55 PM
Ended up going to KomoKomo and getting bibimbap and toppogi thanks to this thread lol.

Seoul Garden is pretty good. If I need a bulgogi fix I try to hit up the bulgogi food truck on Thursdays on Centennial Campus. Its not as good as traditional, but could be a good way to try Korean food with burritos for someone who hasn't had it before. Just do not get their kimchi. It tastes like a sardine's cunt.
4/30/2012 8:22:39 PM
Aww yeah going to KomoKomo for dinner tonight Think I'll get the topokki this time.

I had fresh market crosscut some spare ribs but they were really fatty. Is this an issue with the product or cooking method
4/22/2015 7:27:41 PM
It really is that fatty. Cheap all you can eat places.
4/22/2015 7:31:48 PM
I had them from the local Korean BBQ joint and they were markedly leaner. Is it a low slow heat?
4/22/2015 7:41:39 PM
Not sure about the heat. Might be the cooking surfaced used. If there is no place for the rendered fat to go, such as a dripping pan underneath, you're just going to have fat soaking your meat throughout. I usually cook pork belly in low heat to keep moisture. That may be the case with the ribs too.
