If you miss the convenience of having a house phone, but don't have a house phone? (or even if you do have a house phone)Get one of these. http://www.101phones.com/details/39915/motorola-l513cbt.htmlIt connects with two cell phones and you can customize the ring tone for each cell phone and the house phone, it also has an answering machine with remote access.I picked one up at radio shack for $50 on clearance and its worth every penny. Solves multiple problems- cell phone gets shitty signal in my house...i lay the phone on the table where it does not drop calls and can pick any of the three up- cell phone dies....leave cell phone on the charger- wander off and do not hear cell phone ringing....you will hear one of the three handsets rining- cell phone has shitty speakerphone....all handsets and the base station have an awesome speakerphone- cell phone is uncomfortable to hold on shoulder while working and talking....corded handset is awesome for a desk phone- no one answers when i call from my home #...call from home handset using cell# they answer- i like to text on the phone, but to do it have to use speaker phone....use house phone to talk on cell phone, and text/email via call phone[Edited on March 20, 2012 at 10:24 PM. I've been interested in these (or similar models) before. I've got a few questions that maybe you can answer now that you've had time to mess around some with your own.Just to make sure that I understand, this system will connect to two different cell phones over Bluetooth - when either cell phone gets a call, all of these ring and can take the call? What happens if you're on one call and the other cell phone rings?I don't have a house phone line at all, will this still work?Does caller ID work with the cell phones? Can you choose which cellular line you want to dial out from when placing a call? Thanks

If you already have a house line just use Google Voice. I have it ring whatever phone I want at certain times of the day.

I have ooma...and people call it and it forwards..

FWIW, those with naked DSL actually have an incoming line that can be assigned to google voice. Check your bill for the number.

Sprint + Google Voice is awesome btw. The majority of my texts are sent from a browser now and when I dial clients/callbacks from the app and choose my office line, cell # shows up on CID.Google needs SIP again. Hopefully they will re-open that beta they silently rolled out a while back and the PAP2 or whatever linksys device will be compatible.

So I went by the RadioShack at crossroads and picked up one of these. There's one left...So far it seems nice. I haven't done much talking or capability testing, but it seems like it will work for whatever purpose I choose to use quite nicely. Now I want to see if I can find a way to pair one of my servers with it to use Google Voice as the other connection. That way I'll have what feels like a real home number, or at least a backup of some sort. I'll have to look into that...Thanks

Yeah, that's what I was talking about. Basically we need Google to allow SIP again. How much was it? Maybe I'll check my Rat shacks tomorrow. Ah, 50 bones. Not badI'll probably grab one for my office and hope the company will reimburse. [Edited on March 21, 2012 at 11:50 PM. Reason : ]Str8BacardiL for TT OP of the year! can you connect this to an ATA/landline as well? I use google voice + callcentric + a linksys PAP2 for my home phone (primarily for really cheap international calls and good reception) but my cell phone is a work provided phone. I might just get this use it with my cell + microcell and stop paying for callcentric
3/22/2012 8:00:40 PM
Yeah I think you can incorporate a landline.
3/22/2012 8:13:36 PM
^^Yep, the base station connects to a land line like any typical home cordless phone system. I want to get it connected to Google Voice now.

I got the last 2 in crossroads tonight. they make the 512 as well that just doesn't have the big base. picked that up for a friend
3/22/2012 11:00:48 PM
I think I'm going to hunt one down tomorrow.
3/22/2012 11:10:50 PM
I might let you have mine. I've dropped 1 out of 2 calls even with a microcell and my cell 2' from the base and the call quality is pretty shitty compared to callcentric + google voice[Edited on March 22, 2012 at 11:57 PM. Reason : by have I mean pay retail for mine][Edited on March 22, 2012 at 11:57 PM. Reason : also, it does not read contacts via bluetooth]

I mainly use the base, I work from home and make calls on it all day, have not really meesed with the range on the cordless.
3/23/2012 12:06:31 AM
^^If you have dialtone for 911, try dialing 311. Then try calling that number. If it rings you can assign it to GV.
