I don't find this heartbreaking. She lived an amazing life and went when it was her time, so it isn't a tragedy.

I'm taking this moment to celebrate her life and all she did to influence my childhood. All the memories of the books are coming back now and those thoughts are only bringing up positive emotions.

Zikronah livrakha...may her memory be a blessing.

No one said this was a tragedy. Childhood me like to think that Stan & Jan Berenstain are still writing books that I will one day read.

I got all my old books and now my kids are reading them.

And the animated show still comes on. I like it more than a lot of the alternatives.

ETA: Their kids are taking over production, so it's gonna keep going.

I read she was still illustrating up until the day before she died.

also, I always pronounced it bear-n-steen

I always said Burn-steen (but that's because my pre-school teacher's last name was Bernstein)

Also, how cute does "Stan & Jan" sound on its own?

I always thought it was "Berenstein", so when I read "Berenstain" and clicked on this thread I was really expecting a picture of a skid mark or something.

I've been kinda busy, so I'm several years late.

But it absolutely 100% was Berenstein. Pronounced -stain but spelled -stein.

To those of you who fondly remember the Berenstein Bears: Welcome to our universe! I think you will find many things in your new home here quite familiar!

Fair warning, however: Donald Trump is about to be elected president in this universe. If you have the means, you may wish to return whence you came.

Can I go with you?
