The court got it right, I don't 100% agree with their reasoning here, but at least the outcome is correct.

the amount of coal burnt and fuel spent just to spread this story around the globe offsets any 'real' victories for humanity :/

Does someone who writes down the right answer, but shows incorrect reasoning for how they derived the answer, really have the right answer?

If I understand this decision, it only applies if you don't admit that there's anything incriminating on the encrypted computer. If you do admit such files exist, they can jail you indefinitely.
