Now both my work and personal laptops are browsing slow as shit. No errors or anything, but in the bottom left corner of the browser it says "waiting on cache" and sometimes the page will eventually load, other times it freezes the entire computer. I'm pretty sure this is a Chrome issue since it is occurring across 2 different computers... I am signed into Chrome on both browsers, so there is the only connection.

i don't know why i still use Chrome, but i do
2/17/2012 9:07:45 PM
Uninstall Chrome.Install Firefox.
2/17/2012 9:23:15 PM
who doesnt have IE, FF and Chrome all installed?
2/17/2012 10:12:42 PM
Me lol. ^^^^ But seriously, you MUST have at least 2 browsers installed, right?
2/17/2012 10:17:42 PM
what does that have to do with anything? I prefer chrome for it's features. IE has been much slower than chrome, until this issue popped up. And yes, I have IE, but that doesn't help me.
2/17/2012 10:28:01 PM
prolly...Chromeand IE
2/17/2012 10:28:28 PM
Man, just get Firefox and lay it down for tonite.
2/17/2012 10:35:29 PM
hey i like Chrome's features too, thats why I use itbut then I open task manager and why i still use it
2/17/2012 10:47:53 PM
Windows doesn't accurately account for Chrome's memory usagewait nm it doesbut all that memory overhead is the cost of a multi-process architecture, in which every single plugin and extension, and judiciously selected groups of tabs, each have their own sub-process of the main browser processnow Opera on the other hand, the only true single-process browser around, has much lower memory usage, but OTOH if anything crashes the whole browser session crashes
2/17/2012 10:52:59 PM
seems like a high cost when the 8 tabs i have open right now are tww, espn, a couple craiglist tabs, wordpress, imgur, and two rootzwiki tabsi really don't see why a browser should use 400 megs of ram for simple shit like thatYET I CONTINUE TO USE IT[Edited on February 17, 2012 at 10:57 PM. 2/17/2012 11:12:40 PM
^^lotta javascript nowadayz na meanalso what extensions do you use? Adblock Plus does speed up your browsing even while it extracts a memory overhead (for my 30-tab session it's 97,280KB right now)

My guess is it's ESPN

I guess with memory being dirt cheap these days, I don't worry about using 10% of my memory capacity.[Edited on February 18, 2012 at 2:20 PM. Reason : . ]

Uninstall and reinstall. And if you have any other google products that are installed, maybe uninstall and reinstall them as well. Its probably worth a try.Oh and try ccleaner.[Edited on February 18, 2012 at 8:41 PM. Reason : /]

^^^^this laptop has 2 gigs of ram, i dont think 20% of the physical memory is necessary for a browser thats often minimizedthough closing the ESPN tab did seem to cut it down to less than 200mbbut sometimes my computer locks up during youtube videos and stuff, dont act like its perfect]
2/18/2012 9:46:14 PM
^It's not Chrome eating 400mb of memory, it's FLASH. Disable flash and watch memory usage plummet (this is true for any browser, not just chrome)

Is using click-to-play sufficient, if one merely doesn't click on those grey boxes? Also, when you use CCleaner, put this file in its program directory for maximum cleaning effectiveness: http://jansal.net/etc/winapp2.ini[Edited on February 19, 2012 at 12:23 AM. Reason : I think it is

^^^ Who cares? Are you running out of memory? If not, it doesn't fucking matter. Trying to keep as much of your memory free is asinine. It's a waste.
2/19/2012 11:34:01 AM
basically its xbox-huge memory usage is partially why it feels so fast
