They don't have oil.And they're not a threat to our only ally in the middle east. We're not going to help them.
2/8/2012 7:22:23 PM
And they have been fighting a proxy war with us in Iraq. They are no friends of ours.
2/8/2012 7:29:06 PM
who is "they?"
2/8/2012 8:59:47 PM
How come all the sudden Obama gets in charge and the hawks turn into doves?

^^See the title.

My PS teacher said that they have oil agreements with Russia and China so we have no incentive not to let this go on.

^^find it peculiar your PS teacher would mention the oil agreements before the military agreements

Wait are we talking about helping the de facto monarch of Syria who's using the military to kill unarmed civilians?Or helping the unarmed civilians being killed by their own nation's military?Because one definitely sounds like a more defensible course of action than the other so I want to avoid confusion...[Edited on February 9, 2012 at 11:45 AM. Neither. The world can go find another superhero.

Or supervillain, depending on your perspective. The Middle East's political situation in general is largely a result of US and NATO intervention over the past half-century. If we weren't propping up dictator X, we were propping up his next door neighbor that helped him rise to power.

Yeah, foreign military intervention in Syria would do more harm than good. Going after Assad's regime by force will result in something that looks a lot closer to post-Saddam Iraq than post-Gaddafi Libya. It's sad what's happening on the ground there, but there isn't much we can do to actually improve the situation, especially with Russia and China on Assad's side. Very complex situation with no clear solution right now.

1) if anybody knows where to sign up to go over there and help these people let me know. i'd gladly take an assault rifle and backpack off ammo and give up my life to take out as many syrian regulars as possible to protect these people2) any of you guys feel the same? it's horrible watching these kids and innocents die.3) my next car will 100% be electric and hopefully supplemented with solar panels from my own roof. my household refuses to be a part of this 'oil' situation that currently exists on the planet. i will no longer support the evil forces of this planet. we don't have enough time before we kill everything and ruin the earth completely. we have to do more. and then when we can't we have to do more.fuck. just seeing the summary of what's going on over there is making me [Edited on February 9, 2012 at 6:46 PM. The primary reason I want regime change in Syria is to give us more leverage against Iran.

^^thats the diff between you and ii and several others here would go over there and fight to the death to help those people and you would hide in your closet tucked with your tail between your legs until an ambulance by chance came to save youin fact most liberals are pretty much pussies when it comes to issues like this. they claim fairness and love and peace and gays and hippies and happy and love. but then they don't do shit when pedal hits the metal.[Edited on February 9, 2012 at 9:40 PM.
