So I'm using linux on my thinkpad T43, and its working fine and all that jazz except for the graphics. I'm using Fedora 14. Is there a distro that works better/makes things appear smoother than Fedora? What about better graphics? Things are looking very "pixel-y". here's how it looks.

If you're using a Fire- class card from AMD you're basically stuck - they're not the best supported. But you can check to make sure that smoothing and anti-alaising is enabled. Ubuntu has the AMD driver baked in, you may need to update it manually in Fedora.

Which graphics chipset are you using? I would suggest trying the F16 live CD, but if you've got a crappy graphics card then trying to run GNOME3 would be futile. Just curious, but any particular reason you're running F14 and not a newer, supported version?

^F14 was the version I had on dvd at the time. I 'yum -y update' weekly.

using Linux Mint now, latest version. Things seem to be a bit smoother, I'll keep trying it out. Thanks for the info. Tdub tech talk delivers.
