The metal end/jacket came off of my primary HDMI cable (to TV). It's a 12' run and I don't have another cable this long (ordered a replacement though). Is there a way to fix this cable, at least temporarily? The rest of the cable is intact, just the male end came off, exposing the metal prongs on the cable.]

I suppose you could cut a chunk off the plastic end and solder the tiny wires onto the correct places

haha, I haven't those skills.

you could splice a new end on by cannibalizing a regular length hdmi.

HDMI is such a flaky hardware implementation to begin with, I can virtually guarantee you that splicing shit together would make it fail hard. Get Amazon Prime if you don't have it and have them overnight you a cable for like $10-12 total if you're in a super hurry. ]

by the time you figure out how to repair this, your new cable would have arrived.

You should cash in the warranty on the cable too, it most likely has a lifetime warranty (and if it's a Best Buy brand cable, they'll swap it in store).

or go rent one from bestbuy/walmart until yours comes in.

Five Below (next to Best Buy) has them for $5
