Tickets are supposed to go on sale tomorrow.^ is that a serious question?

12/21/2011 8:38:20 PM
i wasn't planning on sitting, i just don't want to get pushed around. i've been to 3 tool shows. 2 of them had seats all the way to the front (with no open standing room. stand at your chair if you want), 1 had a large open floor. i've not been to a show that had both options.and according to ^^ tickets go on sale tomorrow. my question is where. the show doesn't show up in ticketmaster or stubhub or anywhere else that i've found yet (except in the news section of the tool website)...[Edited on December 21, 2011 at 9:16 PM. NM, i misread the article -- read it on my phone (small screen) and quick to read it as I got excited. The dallas show goes on sale tomorrow. Still waiting on on-sale dates for the remaining shows. It should be ticketmaster, all of the other shows for this tour that have gone on sale so far have been through ticketmaster[Edited on December 21, 2011 at 10:10 PM. 1/3/2012 11:40:47 AM
does Tool typically sell out the arena's etc they play in? It would seem that way, based on how few shoes they play...]
1/3/2012 12:31:44 PM
yes, a lot of the shows on this tour are sold out. supposedly, some of the shows sold out in hours. Which I know was common when they were touring to support a new album, but kind of surprised me for this tour. They crashed a non-ticketmaster ticketing service for one show.I've seen them in Bojangles Col. a couple of years ago, it's not a huge venue, so I would expect it to sell out --- at least to scalpers.

It's been probably about 10 years since I last saw tool live.Do they tend to play a lot of their newer stuff? I'm not a big fan of lateralus or 10,000 days, but if they tend to play mostly opiate through aenima era songs, it'd be worth it.
1/3/2012 2:37:24 PM
the last show i went to, which was to promote 10000 days, was mostly 10000 days, some lateralus (my favorite album btw), and maybe 1-2 older songs. i'll dig around a bit to see if i can find the setlist.from huntington va in 2007:JambiStinkfist46&2SchismLost Keys/Rosetta StonedIntension/Right In TwoWings for Marie10,000 DaysLateralusVicarioushere's one from a more recent show. vegas in 2010:Third EyeJambi-IonsStinkfistVicariousEBAThe PatientIntoleranceSchism46&2-intermission-Lateralus w/ Gino from RajasAenima[Edited on January 3, 2012 at 3:15 PM. I've seen them a bunch in the past 10 years, both while supporting a new album and when they weren't.They play some older stuff, mostly 46 & 2, Aenima, Stinkfist (sped up version), and then there are one or two more older songs that they swap out... flood, intolerance, third eye. But they mostly play newer stuff. And they tend to have almost identical set lists night to night (minus the one or two songs they swap out).Supposedly, they've finished a video for The Pot (which was started years ago). So I imagine they'll be playing that at every show. These are the setlists I've seen live (I think you'll see they haven't typically played much older stuff):Winston Salem - 2002soberthe grudge stinkfist (extended)H.schismparabolparabolathird eye Disposition, Reflection, Triad --- all straight though, drummer from Messhuggah came out for TriadlaturalusD.C. - 2006StinkfistThe PotForty Six & 2JambiSchismLost KeysRosetta StonedWings For Marie10,000 DaysLateralusVicariousÆnemaWinston-Salem 2007JambiStinkfist (ext.)46 and 2Schism (ext.)Lost KeysRosetta StonedFloodWings for Marie10,000 DaysLateralusVicariousJacksonville, Fl 2007JambiStinkfist(ext)46+2Schism(ext)Lost KeysRosetta StonedIntensionRight in TwoWings for Marie10k DaysLateralusVicariousCharlotte 2009JambiStinkfist46 & 2SchismLost KeysRosetta StonedFloodAenemaLateralusVicarious[Edited on January 3, 2012 at 6:19 PM. REALLY WANNA GO
1/3/2012 8:08:07 PM
They only play 10-12 songs that's really freakin lame. When I was at Foo Fighters a few months ago in Charlotte, Dave Grohl cranked out 22 songs.Bitching aside, I saw Tool on July 5, 1997 at Lollapalooza. It was my first real rock show, it was outdoors and it was wicked. I was on the lawn with my buddy and when Tool took the stage, we jumped the fence with another couple hundred people and I watched the show a few rows from the stage. I remember thinking how weird Maynard was with all his sexual movements throughout the set and humping the microphone and what not. The coolest part was that being the day after the 4th of July, the three main band members each wore these unicolor latex skin-tight suits; Maynard was white, the one guy was red, and the other was blue. Hard to believe that was 15 years ago this year
1/3/2012 10:16:01 PM
so grohl played like 2 actually decent songs?that's righti'm hatin'
1/3/2012 11:09:39 PM
The number of songs, or lack there of, is kind of shity. But keep in mind that the average tool song is like 7 minutes with several around12 or so, whereas the average foo fighters song is closer to 3.It still sucks, but it's not like they're playing half the time.

it's 10:10 and they're still not available on the site for me. I called, and it's searching but keeps saying there are no seats available even when i ask for "best available." I guess the good thing is tha this will thwart scalpers to some extent... but wtf.[Edited on January 7, 2012 at 10:12 AM. Reason : .]
