it's possible to replace the internal power port on laptops, but it's tricky. best option is to ask somebody you know or post an ad on craigslist and pay somebody $50-100 to solder a new jack on for you

I am assuming that fred knows you have a laptop, but in case you don't, a new power supply in a desktop is fairly easy to replace and not too terribly expensive.

If the jack is in fact what needs replacing (probably), then this is what you need.http://www.ebay.com/itm/NEW-AC-DC-POWER-JACK-HP-TOUCHSMART-TX2-1200-1024-PJ49-/140551788702Service guide:http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c01655860.pdfYou get the part, I will replace it in exchange for a 12 pack of any decent microbrew.[Edited on December 16, 2011 at 4:25 PM.
