I've been looking for just the traditional strand christmas tree lights and after looking a few places talked to a guy at lowes who says everyone is out because companies and developers are coming in a buying up entire shipments for decorating etc.

Have y'all looked at Target? I was in there last weekend and they still have shitloads of old school lights. Of course that was a week ago now so who knows.

Everywhere I went in Charlotte is cleaned out of the standard clear (white) mini lights. We got some LED shit that was more expensive and looks kind of weird. I just assumed you could always roll up to Target and get a few boxes for $4 each or something. Not so.[Edited on December 11, 2011 at 8:55 PM. Reason : .]

I plan on grabbing some LED lights the day after Christmas. Would prefer to have less fire hazardy lights than my current ones.

I think the LED lights look like shit.

To me the multi-colored ones look pretty much the same as traditional and that's all I want. Screw boring white lights

If you are just looking for some real cheapo lights, you can check out Big Lots. I have some old lights that have been working for 5 years that I got at Big Lots.

Big Lots is a good suggestion. I feel like I saw some at Ollie's too now that I think about it.

Do those old school Hallmark motion ornaments work on LED strands?
