...twice!

+ <--- how I feel now

God damn, the acceleration and sound are orgasmic.

Plus did a few full acceleration runs (from rest, shifting at redline every gear)... damn, I don't want to drive my car now.

Steering was extremely responsive, and cornering felt great (kept DSC on).

I do wish it was manual gear... that would be a lot more fun, at least for me.

Hell no, man!

This was a life and death experience... one mistake at 270 km/h, and I would've been dead!!! Considering that the steering was so responsive to very slight wrist movements (unlike my car), and the fact that my palms were getting sweaty because of the seonsorial overload, I was scared I was going to drive into the desert on either side of me and flip over a dozen times!

It was great, but now I realize I shouldn't have. Have a wife and a toddler, not worth the risk. But hey, it was awesome!

It is the fastest I have ever driven, by a wide margin (124 mph in my previous car, Volvo S60). Not the fastest I have ever ridden, though (177 mph in an R8). So, going from 124 mph in a 180 hp sedan to 168 mph in a 414 hp coupe, was a huge [dangerous] leap, which I am glad I took, but won't be taking again (my friend said I can drive it any time I want).

Hey OEPI, what do you drive?

how about posting in the pic of your ride thread? I'm curious.

also, pretty sure a 2011 E93 has speed sensitive steering, so I doubt a twitch would kill you

Come on, you guys are just being extra-dick because you aren't down with OEP. He used to be a giant douche, but come on, unless you have dial-up, he's not that bad.

We are talking about the same guy right? Who bragged about wetting the bed, sniffing underwear he had lent to a buddy who stayed with him one night, and who claims all Americans are disgusting because we don't have bidets installed on every toilet? Forget the fact that no matter if anyone cares at all he constantly is reposting any and everything he sees on other forums, and the huge side scrolling photos, that guy is without a doubt the creepiest user on TWW. I invite anyone to go back and look and please show us that the things I have said are not true. Being ejected from a BMW into the desert in some Saudi Arabian country paved with our American dollars is actually too good a death for him.

OEP, I've always thought of you as one of those guys that posts photos of supercars he will never be able to afford or drive, but 168mph is no joke. I suppose 170mph is not even technically a supercar these days, but damn, it's still fast. Take it easy out there, bro.

And post pics of those straight desert roads.

If so, that's magic to me! I always thought at rest with the engine on, either the trans has to be in neutral, or the clutch has to be pressed on. I will try it 1st thing in the morning!"

Fast is fast, but yeah you don't need a supercar to those speeds these days. A base Corvette (MSRP just under $50k) will hit 190 and Ford claims their new Mustang Shelby GT500 (MSRP $55k [i think]) will hit 200 mph. Awesome feats for sure, but hopefully people are responsible enough to do it in the proper environment

if the ford can do 202 like it says... i'll be going to xroads grabbing some keys and turning 440 into a nascar track.

(not really but it would be a cool story bro)

I still say that going 135 (mph) in my Integra is scarier than 168 in an M3, lol

1) the '93 Camry had a 2.2 liter engine, not 2.4 like the car in the video
2) the indicated top speed in that video is 122. INDICATED. So 115 is probably closer to the real speed
3) extra weight (from passengers) doesn't affect top speed. It just takes longer to reach it.

this is really a silly argument of course.

NOT a 93 camry

[Edited on December 13, 2011 at 10:11 AM. Reason : ^ beat me to it :busted:]

Having owned a 5sfe camry (among others) I can assure you that you never went 135 in it, and you probably didnt hit the speed limiter if the AC was turned on.

ok, well I obviously did not have any gps equipment out to log my speed, but the speedo needle went to the end of range it can indicate which is 130 and then some ticks. I do think those speeds in a camry are much more entertaining/scary than any speed a new m3 is capable of going.

Anything over 120 in my old civic was scary. The front end felt floaty and it was still pulling pretty well.

now i accidentally go way too fast from time to time.
