ok well I know this is probably a really simple problem. but I am stupid so give me a break lolwell here's my problemthe record player goes through an audio cable (with the red and white connectors) aaand when I have it plugged in correctly, sound only comes out of the right speaker - the other speaker just has light buzzing in it, as if something is not hooked up properlywhen I reverse the white and the red cables, the audio switches to the left speaker so I know it's not a problem with the speaker itselfso where is the problem? is it the turntable - is it the audio red/white cable that runs between, or is it the receiver/amplifier/whatever you call that thing I was thinking it was the cables themselves... the turntable itself seems to work fine, and the receiver works fine otherwise (when I play cassettes or other audio)another questionI use the phono input on the receiver to do two different things, so I am always switching out. are there any kind of devices that will allow you to double that up, so I can use the same port with multiple inputs, without having to switch out all the time? I know these are all probably dumb questions, but I appreciate any advice and help that you guys can give me <3I may just need to get a more up-to-date receiver/amplifier

Check your cartridge connections to the tone arm.

I was reading about the cartridge connection thing on another forum when I googled this but I don't know enough about it to figure out what that is but I guess I can learn.

I think if the tt turns out to be the problem, I'm going to buy one of the ones that has USB input and is capable of making mp3s

I'd recommend disconnecting and reconnecting the four wires on the back of the cartridge. Google a connection diagram to make sure they are connected properly.

USB turntables arent really that great.you sound like a novice though so go for it.its the tone arm but try the other cable to be sure, you can use it just dont use the yellow end.

...do you have the grounding wire attached? Usually it's a screw post on the reciever. And the tt should have a thin wire with a metal fork on the end of it.[Edited on December 5, 2011 at 8:25 AM. Reason : ]
