I just checked my credit report today, being the responsible person I am, and everything checked out except for a loan from ACS Student Loans for $7,500. I had a previous loan with them that was paid off earlier this year (the report indicated that it was indeed paid off and it was a much different amount). When I logged into ACS months ago, there was no mention of an outstanding debt associated with the account. Two of the credit reporting agencies (TransUnion and Experian) are reporting that the debt has been deferred until December 2012 (I graduated December 2010) and it appears that no interest has accumulated on it.I have already been through this bullshit with ACS earlier this month when they sent a notice telling me that I was late on my payment, yet I received no prior bills, nor any indication over the years that I had this loan out with them (it was legitimate though). Meanwhile Wackovia/Wells Fargo and other banks sent many statements updating how much is owed and what not, and when all of my loans were transferred to fedloan, I received monthly notices on my accounts. ACS has provided me with jack shit. FedLoan kept me updated as to when I would start being billed, when they received notice that I was no longer enrolled. They have been awesome. I don't know why the loans from ACS weren't transferred to FedLoan though, as I thought the Federal Government was taking over all student loans.I've read other people's horror stories with ACS as well. What can I do about this bullshit? I just checked my payment history, and the $7,500 loan was taken out in August of 2008 according to my financial reports. However, in August of 2008 I got an unsubsidized loan of $3,675. And according to Fedloan in August of 2008 I have a $7,500 loan that was taken out, and from what I can tell it was dispersed to me in August of 2008 and in December of 2008, so that adds up. Then on my credit report is another loan that says it was transferred in August of 2008 (probably the $7,500 loan that went to fedloan).Any advice on this shit? I'm really quite tired of ACS and their inability to be competent in any fashion.

I've been having serious issues with them as well. I wish I could transfer my loan to a different company to stop putting up with their bullshit. Is it possible to do that?
11/21/2011 8:36:47 AM
Pay it off. They can't fuck up paid in full.
11/21/2011 12:16:15 PM
Trust me, if I had the ability to pay it all off right now I would. But I don't. So I'd rather give my money to a company that knows what the fuck they're doing.
11/21/2011 12:17:18 PM
I'm not really in the position now to pay it off, and I honestly feel there may be a mistake or they're fucking me.

I haven't had any kind of trouble with them
11/21/2011 1:16:58 PM
Have you called them?
11/21/2011 1:32:16 PM
Not yet. Mainly because I can't stand Fargo, ND accents and stupidity.

When I was looking around a few years back for lenders/banks to consolidate my private student loans the only place I could find that was even capable or willing was Wells Fargo. I applied since the interest rates on my Sallie Mae private loans wasn't horrible but wasn't great compared to my Citigroup federal student loans. Found out I basically needed outfuckingstanding credit of 825+ and I only came up as 775, which qualified me for essentially the same rate but in one loan. Now there were kaboodles of places willing to consolidate or take on my federal stafford loans but the interest rates were good and I didn't have a problem with Citigroup (who then promptly sold my loans to Sallie Mae as well). Seeing as how federal loans are government backed from default and the economy a few years ago was in the ditch I can understand how corporations were veering away from taking on risky private loans, no matter what they were for. I'd be interested in knowing if anyone has found any reputable lenders that could consolidate private student loans now as well.

I've had no problems with ACS and I want to brag about my 1.625% interest rate.the end.

You should fill out a credit report dispute.I don't have any experience with ACS, but if they are incorrectly reporting your credit history and you can prove it, you need to google how to dispute a credit report claim. That shit can really come back to haunt you and I think it will stay on there for...what...7 years?

I filed my first complaint with the BBB 2 weeks ago over a screwup in the tile job of my bathroom. The contractor refused to own up to it costing me about $500 out of pocket (I had paid him $1500 for the work). He was unaccredited, but had an A+ rating. I suspect he wont respond to the complaint, and I am really hoping it will drag his rating down.

Anyone have experience with Great Lakes Higher Education? So far, CFNC has been pretty easy to work with. They give interest rate reductions for on-time payments and also for signing up for e-statements and auto-draft.
11/22/2011 3:41:47 PM
I use Great Lakes. So far I haven't had any issues with them.
11/27/2011 8:03:42 PM
^,^^Same here... no problems so far.
11/27/2011 8:05:07 PM
CFNC rate reductions ftw! But I do wish they wouldn't sell off loans to other companies.
11/27/2011 8:12:18 PM
Just hang on a damn minute....you don't actually know if this $7500 was actual money given to you for schooling or if a mistake on their part...that is, you aren't quite sure how to do basic math?
11/28/2011 7:28:53 AM
What the hell does basic math have to do with anything? ACS didn't mention anything, it's on my credit report. NCSU's packtracks doesn't tell you where the loan came from. If you have any insight, offer it.

Ever get this resolved?

CFNC's rate reduction is nice but if they ever screw anything up or you have any problem whatsoever that you need to get resolved they are a nightmare of incompetence.

Yea it's no big deal. The issues were mainly annoyances, but I'll be done with the loans next year anyway One of small issues I had was that when I moved, I updated my address on their website yet they were still sending all my mail to the previous place for months. The first time I called they told me the address I had updated on their website wasn't linked to the database they use when actually mailing stuff out so I would need to manually update my address over the phone with them. I did that and it still took two more calls and several more months of stuff getting mailed there before it was fixed.I also had one auto payment that didn't go through and they were trying to ding me plus were going to take away all my rate reductions I had earned. Considering it was an error on their end it was a bigger PITA to resolve than I thought it would be.However, I can also say that the issues I have had did always get resolved (even if it took longer than I had hoped), and since then I have had no more problems.[Edited on December 5, 2011 at 10:48 AM. yeah, no issues here with CFNC granted I haven't had to contact them. Those interest rate reductions to only 1 or 2% are nice.
12/5/2011 10:42:34 AM
Thanks for the info. I recently moved and so far everything has been coming to the new place without any issues (I updated over the phone right after moving).I'm also about to set up auto-draft and e-statements so I can get the rate reductions, so I will be on the lookout for any issues from their end.
