Do I need a watch for my business suit to be "complete"?And what's the deal with all of them being so expensive? For Christ's sake, they're obsolete devices. I don't even care if I get one that successfully tells the time. I just feel like I need one to complete the business getup.

I would suggest a Bulova watch, a silver band with 2 gold stripes. Simpler is better as far as the watch face. I have 2 Bulovaks, a Pulsar (for when on ship as its lower cost), and a nice pocket watyches....although I just like it so that's why I havve that

^And it's a personal choice. Don't get one just because you feel like it's "required". I've never worn one at work or when dressing up for more formal occasions either. I couldn't even tell you which of my friends wear them with suits and which don't because it's something I don't notice. I have absolutely no problem with other people wearing them of course, but don't waste your money on one unless you want one yourself.[Edited on October 7, 2011 at 7:42 AM. Reason : ]

^ and ^^, agreed. I like wearing a good watch, but definitely not all people in business meetings/interviews wear them. So no, they're not a necessity. Maybe if you're an investment banker, and have to wear a huge ass Rolex to prove your worth to clients, but otherwise you're ok without!

my gf asked me if I would wear a Breitling if she bought one for meI asked her why I should wear something on my wrist that is worth more than my car

I get a ton of compliments on my Skagen. It's much more sleek than most Men's watches now, since the style seems to be wearing something the size of an alarm clock on your wrist.I have this one without the matte finish:http://www.skagen.com/en-US/item/233XLSSS.fxhttp://www.skagen.com/

We're just less metro-sexual than big cities. We spend money on the suits, not the accessories.

With your wrists flapping limply, unadorned by the steel embrace of success, as your repugnant attire drapes pathetically over your gaunt cadaverous frame, untailored and unhemmed, a symbol of unrewarded struggle for the descendants of the slovenly Hugenots who founded your village so many moons ago.

if you're going to buy a watch just to look nice, for the love of god at least buy a mechanical watch. please.

I'm a big fan of Swiss Army watches. You can get a pretty nice one for less than a grand. Swiss watches have a reputation for being the "best made" for whatever that's worth. I've had mine for a little over 4 years and have never had a problem. Also, its personal taste, but for a suit I like a leather strap rather than the metal bracelet. Leather seems more formal.

It's not classy to check your phone for the time. Nor is it classy to have a big clock in a conference room.

"business watches"irks me haha.what the fuck is a "business watch"that sounds like something a 10 year old would say.no one here is a fucking CEO or anything, but saying "business watch" sounds so pedestrian to me, almost like it implies that you shouldn't be asking the questions in the original post. that phrase comes out of the mouth of the guy with the short sleeve dress shirt accented by a coat and tie.
10/7/2011 11:49:28 AM
