I saw a few threads but they were old and I was hoping I could get some new info about it...Does anyone live there? Is it a good place to live? And, is it a nice place for young professionals?

at least as of a few years ago i would never live there - downtown shuts down at 4pm - rush hour to get out of the city starts at 3pm it seemed likeif you are looking for some suburbs then i think it's okay but for a good city it's not

Sucks. It's great if you like abandoned buildings everywhere you look and really expensive rent anywhere that you would feel safe. The downtown area by the river is cool though and free beer at the budwieser factory. Also... you'll be living in Missouri.

The thing I really like about St. Louis is all the gang violence.

No, I started last fall and now I'm looking into jobs (my main choice right now is NC or TN)I honestly didn't want to consider Missouri but my fiance' works at a company in Raleigh that has an office in St. Louis too, so I'm trying to compromiseNot so sure now The job I'm looking at would be at Wash U actually[Edited on October 1, 2011 at 5:54 PM. WashU and SLU are pretty nice but the surrounding areas are still in St. Louis.

The last time I flew into StL I had a conversation with my neighbor about how it was to live there. Suburb was the vote from him. He had kids, if that matters to you. Anyway, the city itself does not seem appealing to me at all, but I haven't spent much time in it. I have found MO to be a surprisingly likeable state, especially if you're into music and having to drive a lot, but at least in the central to western parts (I don't know about East, unfortunately) their weather freaking blows. Melting snow to blizzard conditions overnight, summer to late fall conditions overnight, tornadoes. I'd still live there, but you know that sucks.

Just moved back after four years there. Lived in Soulard which is just south of the Cards stadium. I'm not gonna lie. Much hoodrattery and abandoned buildings but good drinking town, relatively cheap to live in the city and gambling is legal. Also really nice parks and museums. I would say that stl is also rather cliqish. Everyone went to high school together so you feel like an outsider. [Edited on November 25, 2011 at 7:20 PM. Reason : New stuff]
