I was told that an individual (non-dealer) can sell up to 5 cars per year in NC.

My question is, what happens if I sell more than 5? What is the penalty?

I asked the lady at the DMV downtown and her response was, "UMM, hmm, umm....I don't know...you just can't sell more than 5" NO SHIT!

I tried to search online, no luck...so I figured TWW has the answer!!!

According to the NC Dealers Manual, a dealer is:
(11) Motor vehicle dealer or dealer.
a. A person, who does any of the following:
1. For commission, money, or other thing of value, buys, sells or exchanges,
whether outright or on conditional sale, bailment lease, chattel mortgage,
or otherwise, five or more motor vehicles within any 12 consecutive
