What's on everybody's schedule?Returning shows I'll watch when they air: Himym, Parks & Rec, Community, The Office, Dexter, The Walking Dead (maybe)Returning shows I'll DVR for later: Tosh.0, Workaholics, The League, It's Always Sunny, Modern FamilyNew shows I'll try: I don't see any new shows that look all that great. Might check out Pan-Am.[Edited on September 19, 2011 at 10:38 AM. Reason : forgot about Modern family]

Returning Shows (either live or DVR): The Office, Parks & Rec, Community, CSIs, L&O:SVU, Criminal Minds, Workaholics, Tosh.0, South Park, The Walking Dead, Chuck, Fringe, Raising Hope, Bored to DeathShows I am attempting to get into: The League, Modern Family (maybe), Boardwalk Empire (maybe)New Shows: Up All Night, Terra Nova---might be missing some others, but I can't really think of any new shows I'm just dying to watch
9/19/2011 10:36:38 AM
it's a fairly weak season for new dramas. The only one I have more than modest interest in is Person of Interest with Michael Emerson and Jim Caviezel. Pan-Am i'll check out because the GF wants to watch it. Terra Nova, with all the struggles it's had will get a fair shot but i'm not letting myself get attached to many shows anymore. With the lack new stuff really catching my eye i'm going to try and pick up a few older shows and watch some back seasons. Dexter is one.
9/19/2011 11:04:15 AM
In terms of new programming, I'm going to watch just about everything that doesn't involve crime solving. So far...I could not make it through the CW's Secret Circle. But I'm going to stick with Ringer so I have something to talk to my one TV-watching friend about, but it is really bad/cheesy.Up All Night was surprisingly alright. Will Arnett/Christina Applegate are very funny people.Free Agents was no good, but I'll watch it one more time. And I heard Playboy Club sucks really bad, but I'm still gonna tune in.Watched a long preview of New Girl, and it wasn't horrible.Obviously, the list of new shows I'm going to try is too long to post, but you both^^,^^^ are missing American Horror Story (http://brentroad.com/message_topic.aspx?topic=617420) from your new lists. Where are y'all finding info about upcoming shows? I've been using sidereel, and I feel like I'm going to miss something![Edited on September 19, 2011 at 11:11 AM. Reason : ]

I just keep up with Sepinwall and hitfixEntertainment Weekly reminds me of things occasionally
9/19/2011 11:14:26 AM
tvline is a good site along with those already listed. tvguide always has a fall preview section complete with calendar so you can set your DVR ahead. american horror story i will check out, but solely for the fact that it's on FX. I really have no interest in the premise.
9/19/2011 11:22:03 AM
Returning shows: Office, Community, The League, How I Met Your Mother, Parks and Rec, Modern Family, It's Always Sunny...I might be missing one or two.New Shows: A few look decent, so I might DVR some...but not sure yet.
9/19/2011 11:32:25 AM
Returning shows: Parks and Rec, Community, The League, Sunny, ModFam, Boardwalk, Archer, assorted reality tv bullshit.New shows: No clue. Any recommendations?
9/19/2011 12:29:50 PM
I saw the pilot for Whitney (the new NBC sitcom set to air after The Office) and it's pretty fucking terrible. Also I will check out Two Broke Girls for Kat Dennings and it's latent racism.
9/19/2011 12:59:13 PM
There is an asian character named Rice Lee on 2 Broke Girls. And that was only one of the racial stereotypes in the diner.[Edited on September 19, 2011 at 10:10 PM. Reason : .]
9/19/2011 9:54:12 PM
Yea that was definitely nothing special (2 Broke Girls).Ashton did not really impress on 2.5 Men. The rest of the cast brought some lulz, but it was not the OMFG show they were hyping it to be.HIMYM was pretty good though. Out of the CBS comedy night that one was the best tonight.
9/19/2011 10:05:05 PM
I don't want to get too opinionated before everybody has a chance to watch this crap, but whatever...I found all the bad lines in 2 Broke Girls to be very distracting from whatever was supposed to be funny about that show.2.5 Men is bad as usual.I can't believe there will be another 3 seasons of How I Met Your Mother. I need to get better at tuning out whenever present Ted starts talking or when future Ted wraps up the episode with the banal lesson/moral of the show.Playboy Club is interesting in that I think it was conceived and written by a moderately precocious 12-year-old.^^I hope that they were trying (and failing) to be edgy or something with the stereotypes. Obviously, it's bad TV regardless.
9/19/2011 11:44:06 PM
The writing on 2.5 Men is so bad they're still doing Microsoft Zune jokes, in 2011 for fucks sake.
9/19/2011 11:52:16 PM
not fall, but i'm looking forward to awake. midseason replacement. saw the pilot at comic-con and loved it.
9/20/2011 12:17:56 AM
I have no idea why but I actually watched Two and a Half Men last night. It was terrible but I'm not sure how it compares to the Sheen 2.5 men since i haven't watched an episode in a long time.[Edited on September 20, 2011 at 8:23 AM. Reason : .]
9/20/2011 8:23:03 AM
i thought that two and a half men was pretty good for the first episode without sheen. I think ashton will do a good job but they had to first set up his character.
9/20/2011 8:32:30 AM
Playboy Club was laughable. NBC will axe it within a month. Didn't get a chance to watch the second block of CBS comedies due to Hell's Kitchen, but i'll check them out tonight.
9/20/2011 8:52:03 AM
Returning shows: Gossip Girl90210Vampire DiariesThe OfficeCommunityIts Always SunnyWorkaholics Tosh.0 (Doesn't it come back tonight?!)Oh and I'm watching Arrested Development on Netflix. Halfway through the first season.[Edited on September 20, 2011 at 9:26 AM. Reason : f]
9/20/2011 9:26:26 AM
NBC's Thursday night lineup was just about the only TV I watched in the past. Parks and Rec is the only show left that appeals to me. All the other sitcoms have either fallen off or just don't appeal to me at all. That said, any sitcom is, at a minimum, better than _____ Dancing with _____, American Talent/Idol, Doctor/Lawyer/Cop/ESP Chick Solves Crimes Drama, etc. I don't see how anyone watches those shows.
9/20/2011 9:30:31 AM
Returning: Boardwalk Empire, Hung, Bored to Death, How to Make it in America, Modern Family, Dexter, Parenthood, 90210, CommunityNew: Up All Night & The New Girl
9/20/2011 10:01:30 AM
returning: tosh.0, modern family, the walking dead, community, parks & rec, grey's anatomy, the office, dexter, SVU, fringe, house, american idol (maybe), family guy, american dad, cleveland shownew: pan am, the new girl
9/20/2011 10:53:31 AM
I can't believe CBS still uses a laugh track for its shows, like that was ever a good idea...
9/20/2011 10:57:09 AM
I'll watch Terra Nova just because I think TV needs more sci-fi shows.I'll also try out The New Girl and maybe Up All Night if I can remember to watch them.
9/20/2011 2:27:01 PM
i might try terra nova. i laffed when the commercial for it said a critic said "like nothing else before" or something like that...while the whole time i was thinking "oh so they're reviving jurassic park?" i don't actually know the premise of the show though. just that it involved dinosaurs, people, and fencing.
9/20/2011 2:38:05 PM
super excited about parks & rec and the office
9/20/2011 2:49:33 PM
If you come across anything watchable(especially something unexpected) be sure to post. I can't keep up with all the new shit and what is good and what isn't, but I have some serious gaps in my TV watching schedule and need to fill in the DVR. Going to even lower the standards, just seems like I have tons to watch on Thursday and not much the rest of the week. I think outside of Thursdays its like, HIMYM, Tosh, Modern Family.
9/20/2011 2:50:08 PM
Are you only looking for new show recommendations? Like, what about shows that already have a season or two under their belts?
9/20/2011 3:08:40 PM
9/20/2011 4:19:47 PM
9/20/2011 4:23:43 PM
^^The DVR ends up being a real reason for that. I actually don't watch much TV, but since I watch most everything on DVR it makes shows only 18 minutes or whatever they are without commercials. So you can churn through some TV each night when you are never watching it live. I feel like there are a few good older shows I missed the boat on and could catch back up, but I'm more curious about anything new that might be decent. Going to rely on TWW to let me know if there might be something watchable that I missed.[Edited on September 20, 2011 at 4:25 PM. Reason : .]

9/20/2011 4:31:02 PM
^hate to break it to you but No Ordinary Family got cancelled, and Justified won't be back until 2012.[Edited on September 20, 2011 at 4:34 PM. Reason : .]

I watched the Playboy bunny show today on Hulu and it sucked. I suspect it'll be canned after next week. Watched New Girl and it was cute. Has potential. Up All Night I thought was hysterical. Free Agents was pretty good but I love Kathyn Hahn so I hope they really expand on her character more. I loved her in The Goods. Returning shows: Modern Family, Parks and Rec, The Office, Biggest Loser (don't judge), Glee, Castle, L&O SVU, FlashpointNew shows: Pan-Am

I was about to say, you can watch a lot of TV and still be "useful". In addition to reading and doing audiobooks, I am halfway through reading The Hobbit with my sons, and then we will commence to read The Lord of the Rings. My wife and I usually sit up for 2 shows after the kids go to bed at 8, and then I watch a show on my lunch break. Not unbelievable to watch quite a bit of TV and still be a productive person who does mentally stimulating activities. I just let the HDD build up with shows when we get behind. Shit we still have the entire 2nd season of Parenthood to watch and the 3rd is rolling now.
9/21/2011 9:24:25 AM
The most useful people in the world are those that read books instead of watching TV. And there is no way, no way, you have time to do both. He made that very clear. As I've said, that man has changed my life. I am headed to the bookstore now, I will be useful in this world for once. Fuck this thread, and fuck your TV suggestions. Isn't there a thread somewhere around with book suggestions? I'm headed to that thread.
9/21/2011 9:40:23 AM
enjoyed last night's Free Agents. It's by no means a great show, but I laughed enough. that and I kind of have a thing for Katharyn Hahn

correct. and yes, new Lily blows
9/22/2011 1:15:19 PM
Anyone else check out Revenge? Pilot was pretty mediocre. I don't really see this one lasting more than 1 season.
