I have a Seagate HDD that is a victim of the BSY bug (http://www.msfn.org/board/topic/143880-seagate-barracuda-720011-read-me-first/). Basically, the data is all still there, theres just a firmware issue...getting the firmware updated should get the drive working again. Its been like this for awhile, I just have not had a chance to get around to fixing it...plus, Im a little paranoid about doing it. I could probably fix this myself, but I really dont want to risk losing the data here if I can help it, so I figured Id ask if there was anyone here that has dealt with this issue and knows what they are doing with it? Id really like to make sure I dont lose anything. FWIW, the data is mostly video, and youd be more than welcome to copy whats on there (which is basically every State game from 2007 through spring 2010 I think, plus some other stuff...yes, those were some lean years, but there are 3 wins over UNC in football, a win over Duke in basketball, etc, that Id hate to lose...Ive uploaded some of these caps, so you know how good they look). So if anyone can help, please let me know...thanks!

So you can't just take the drive out of the enclosure, plug it into a computer and pull the data off?

^that won't work since it's the firmware for the drive controller itself.Just bite the bullet and read a tutorial online (i'm sure there are plenty, as widespread as this problem is).
