I get the opposite of that in my van, they tailgate the hell out of me and assume that because i have an old ugly van that they have to drive faster than me and they must pass me because "that van looks slow" It pisses me the fuck off and i usually end up blocking them in for as long as i can get away with it.

I dont understand why you would tailgate a vehicle that would fucking crush you in a wreck. The one time i got hit it put a small dent in my quarter panel and did 3500 dollars worth of body damage to the other car. My bumper tore a hole in their quarter panel and it didnt even scratch my bumper.

Nobody should be driving in the left lane unless they're passing someone. Absolute speed has nothing to do with what lane you should be in--only whether or not you're engaged in passing someone.

I don't tailgate anyone unless they're fucking parking it in the passing lane.

When I come up on slower traffic in the left lane, I get just close enough that it's apparent that they're holding me up, and I stay there for a little bit. If they're passing other traffic, then cool, no problem. If not, or if they don't move back over after passing other traffic, I give them a reasonable amount of time to move over (although I would like to mention that they should have been watching their mirrors and gotten out of the way long before they impeded anyone's progress), and if they still don't get out of the way, I pull up very close behind them and stay there (sometimes I'll also flash my lights first before I start tailgating). Sometimes they finally get the fucking message after that. If not, then they're just obstinately and purposefully being wrong, so fuck 'em. I downshift into the heart of the power curve and fly by them at WOT. If I'm going to need to get back into the left lane anyway, I make it a point to cut them off as I do it.

I never tailgate anyone in the right lane, or anyone in the left lane if they're passing someone, no matter their speed (unless they're taking 5 miles to pass, creeping by at a rate of 3 feet per minute). I don't feel compelled at all to offer even the slightest courtesy to anyone droning along in the passing lane. Fuck them, whatever I need to do to get by them...they get what they get. I don't get close behind cars in the right lane to pass them, either--I leave them plenty of room and cut it extra close to the car in the passing lane if need be.

Not really.

When traffic is light, I stay in the right lane except to pass.

When traffic is heavy, I try to push people out of the passing lane, but end up just changing lanes all over the place to work my way through the disorganized mess. The less of a hurry I'm in, the more time I'll spend tailgating people to move them over rather than just weaving my way through.

I didn't read this thread or click that link, but I fucking hate slow traffic.

This morning, however, I was doing my typical 10-15 over on Wendover in Greensboro (45 mph limited-access road for the uninitiated) in nearly-heavy traffic. I'm on my CB 750 in the left hand lane when this faggoty old dude in a little Focus comes flying up on my rear. He stays less than a car length off my rear tire for about half a mile before I have to exit to the right. As I change lanes, I give him a big thumbs up with my left hand (I feel this is a more cordial gesture). I have to merge over two lanes to get to the off ramp. As I get to the far right lane, I see him swerve hard into the middle lane, right beside my bike, giving me a hall of fame-worthy stinkeye. I don't know if he was actually trying to hit me or just scare me, but he swerved back into the left lane and zoomed away.

Moral of the story: I'll gladly get out of the left lane if I'm at or just above the speed limit. If I'm doing 15 over, fuck you slow down asshole.

Gosh, some of you people act like letting someone pass you is a huge loss to you or something. If you are going 10-15 mph faster than everyone else and your in the left lane and someone is tail-gating you you should move over and let them pass. This is Driver's Education 101.

It's pretty obvious that theDuke866 is the guy you always see on the highway, flying down the middle lane at 90mph and switching lanes every 20 seconds. You know, like a super cool race car driver.

If I'm the fastest car on the road, I will drive in the left lane. If someone is coming up behind me, I will move out of the left lane as soon as safely possible.

I will not bob-and-weave in traffic.

It's really funny to me when people cry or rage about other drivers clogging up the so called passing lane. We all know you're really just mad that you can't speed excessively, so don't try to act like you're not the asshole here.

And seriously... don't even get me started on our retarded speed limits (mostly set low because people don't know how to get the fuck out of the way if they're uncomfortable driving fast)

I don't drive like a douche... i don't change lanes excessively but i do drive faster then the speed limit, usually just a touch faster then the average flow of traffic and it does piss me off when you have 3 wide of people driving next to each other.

To elaborate on that i hate people who drive next to other people in general (especially those who hover in blind spots). If you're going to match someone's speed, slow down and move in behind them you'll get better gas mileage and you won't clog up the road.


And i would also like to challenge you to use a calibrated gps speedometer and compare it to your car's. I'm betting at 65-80 your speedometer in your car reads around 10% high unless you've increased tire diameter or something like that. So, those of you speeding 5 over are probably actually going 1 under (food for thought).

I will tell you this.... when my wife get's pregnant and i'm rushing her to the hospital, i will get road rage at the fast lane cloggers. I don't care what your opinion is on speeding the point is clogging up the road because you are lazy should be illegal.

I am of the opinion that someone driving reasonably fast that IS PAYING ATTENTION is safer than someone hovering in the fast lane half asleep, or talking on their cell, or jamming out to music or any of the 100s of other distractions that cause people not to notice they're causing a traffic jam in the fast lane.
